Babies on buses

We are going to the beach in September (yay!) and while there we will be using a bus/shuttle to get to and from the boardwalk and activities. Should we just hold DS on our laps while on the bus? Keep him in the stroller?
I've tried looking on ocean city's website and can't find any regulations to go off of. What do you ladies think? I am so clueless to using public transportation.

Re: Babies on buses

  • Washington DC makes you fold
your stroller so I put Howell in the ergo and fold the stroller. Chicago doesn't make you fold except at rush hour and it's much much easier to leave him in there. It's mainly an issue of space on crowded buses so since OC's system mainly caters to tourists, I doubt you'd be asked to fold your stroller. I like having the ergo though because it leaves my hands free to pay, hold on while getting off, carry my bags and the like.

  • Most moms around here keep baby in the stroller for bus rides. I dont think one method is particularly safer than the other, so you might as well be able to wheel em on and off! Kind of depends on how crowded it is though. If the shuttle is packed, I wouldn't want to deal with a stroller too!

I wish that he still fit in his carrier. But since he is 30ish pounds he is just too much for me to carry in one. I'm hoping keeping him in the stroller will work!

  • We just did the bus in OC! I was by myself with both girls. DD2 happened to be in the Ergo, so I just stood, but I also had the stroller. We just folded it up. Actually had a lot of nice people that helped me get on and off the bus too.

  • Wanted to add that there is ample parking down by the end of the boardwalk. First night we did the bus and the second we just drove. It was much easier to drive. Will you be going after Labor Day? If so traffic shouldn't be too much of a problem.

30 lbs!!! Holy shit! I was excited that Nolan was approaching 20. :) I'm sure you never get tired of people commenting on his size. LOL

I still carry my behemoth but he's more like 27 pounds. The guy who sold me the ergo acted like he could fit in it until he's three...but I doubt my back would appreciate that very much!
