Is there a 5 year old growth spurt?!

My usually picky almost 5 year old says he is hungry all the time.  He will polish off his breakfast and lunch, beg for a snack around 4, which normally ends up being 1-2 sticks of cheese, a yogurt, fruit and some goldfish by the time he says he is not hungry anymore.   Then he will polish off his dinner, including seconds sometimes and drink 1 cup of milk and another cup of juice (which we blend ourselves from fresh fruit and kale).  We are excited that he is finally eating well, but what is going on?!!!

Re: Is there a 5 year old growth spurt?!

  •    I don't know if there is a growth spurt but I'll be watching this post since we have a newly 5 year old.  DS eats that much plus a morning snack on a usual basis but that isn't new for him (he is tall and skinny).  Tonight he begged for a peanut butter sandwich and apples after dinner (which he polished off) in addition to breakfast/snack.lunch/snack/dinner/sandwich.  We are pretty dedicated to fresh and organic whole foods so he is eating a very high quality diet- it's just a lot.  Myabe he will have another growth spurt, his grand[a is 6'7" (DH and I are not tall but DS1 is so far 98th% or higher.

  • I think so. My DS is five and I've had a hard time keeping him in pants for the last six months. I feel like I buy a new pair and a few weeks later they are getting short.
