I think we're going to implement some sort of routine for bed. What do you guys do?
DS is not a baby who likes to be cradled unless he is super drowsy so I'm not sure something like reading him a story will work. He's always on the go and then when he gets tired he goes from a zero to 10 in seconds - happy and playful to crying, there's no in between. Yes, I watch for his sleep cues.
Re: We need a nighttime routine
What I typically do is give him a bath. Lotion. Pj's. Nurse. Hope that he won't wake up as I put him down. If he does (which he usually does) it's instant screamfest. Laying him down drowsy is a joke.
I've come to realize he's just an intense baby whether happy or mad. I sooo wish he'd accept his crib. Hope you find something that works soon!
Around 730 DH takes him for a bath while I get everything ready.
Then we have recently been doing a couple minutes of naked playtime on the floor, then it's lotion, onsie, sleep suit and then dad feeds him his bottle while I read a book.
Sometimes he falls asleep at the bottle but lately not, so then we put him in his crib, say prayers and give kisses, turn on his aquarium and leave while he's fully awake. 90% of the time he'll fall asleep watching that. I'm happy with the routine and B seems to really like it so we try and keep it as consistent as possible. If he cries in the crib I try not to pick him up if possible but obviously I do if he's getting too upset... Which usually means he didn't burp enough and after a good burp he'll settle down.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
Nurse
Lotion and PJ's
Read a story
DH give small bottle and rocks to sleep
On nights DH isn't around Ill nurse her a bit longer after story.
We also bath every day. If we are out later than normal or something we will just wipe her down with baby wipes. But 95% of the time she gets a bath now (15.5w old) because she rolls on the floor, pets the dogs, sweats and pukes all day long.
