I really need to start avoiding facebook

There was a big lull for a while. All my friends (and I don't have many on FB, just people I see frequently or care to KIT with) have had babies and there weren't any pregnancies. I figured I had some time. A couple of friends have #1 same age as DD (or slightly younger) and no babies, so I figured that maybe they were OAD or I even considered reaching out to see if any had TTTC like me. Well, dang it, one of them announced that she's pregnant with #2. I'm happy for her, but a twinge sad for myself. Mostly jealous. I am holding out that I'll have my big announcement one day soon, but until then, I'm thinking I should avoid fb. At least this girl doesn't post daily status updates/weekly photos (uh, totally something I would do. Haha. JK... kind of).

Oh facebook - I had to block one of my friend's feeds because all she talks about is her pregnancy and I am just not interested in reading that all the time.

I actually quit Facebook about 2 years ago. It was a MIL issue mainly. I actually enjoyed FB and the quit was difficult. Tried Twitter and MIL found me there so deleted that too (you'd think she would get the hint) and now the only thing I have is a Pinterest.

Anyway- The pregnancy status updates were very very annoying.

Oh and what really flipped my lid - was - someone posted this button on FB that looked like Rosie the riveter with the caption "I make babies - what's your super power?"

OMG!!! You should have commented, "My superpower is defriending a*holes." Sorry.. a little drastic. Some people are just so ignorant and insensitive. I think they just don't realize they're being offensive. My sister flat out asked me last year if I was a "fertile myrtle." I kind of scoffed at her (just started going through my fertility testing), and she said, "Well I was! HA HA!" Right in front of my sister (who couldn't have kids) and me. OMG I could have slapped her.

You should have! Wow, how insensitive. If she was my sister, I would have given her a large lecture on being insensitive - maybe because I am the oldest I feel I could get away with that.

I have two friends who recently disclosed that they were pregnant. The first one was at her daughter's first birthday and she was 12 weeks already. The second, her son just turned 2. The first one is annoying only in that her husband has one testicle, and you would think they may have issues, but obviously not the case. I prayed they wouldn't have troubles, wish my prayers worked so well for me.

I freely bloke updates from anyone who is pregnant and annoys me. Happens plenty, but oh well. I love Facebook for keeping in contact with friends, family and distant relatives.

KC - you could always create a new Facebook account and bloke your MIL. If you hyphenate your name with DH's you will be harder to find also.

April, at the time, I was just starting to come to grips with the fact that we had issues and only DH and I knew about it. We hadn't opened up to anyone yet, so I didn't know what to say. Plus, I'm the baby in the family, so I feel the complete opposite -- like I can't stand up and defend myself. By the point, my mom and sisters know we have things going on - my mom knows more than my sisters.

But, on the flip side, while on our family vacation last week, we were all sitting around the table and everyone was drinking. My brother flat out asked me in front of everyone if I was pregnant. I said no, and then my brothers-in-law both handed me beer and said, DRINK IT. Like to challenge me! Well RE said absolutely no alcohol during TWW, so I made up an excuse, "I'm on migraine meds. I can't drink." Then the inquisition began... what kind of medicine, why are you taking it, how often. So much badgering! I got up from the table before I burst in tears... but just barely in time. While my SIL came after me, DH told me that both my sisters went off on their husbands for being jerks about it. So I felt at least now they understand -- especially my one sister who has gone through IF herself. The next day both my brother and BIL came to apologize to me and said they had no idea.

I know they meant no harm, but gosh, sometimes people don't think before they speak. Family... what are we going to do with them?

There is definitely a difference in being the oldest and being the youngest. We were so excited about finally ttc and figured it would happen fairly quickly, that I was very open about ttc the first time. I ended up having to share why it was taking so long, but that helped a friend who also ended up with IF.

My two closest friends know about our IF issues (both have gone through it). My sisters don't. I really want to tell the one; however, my DH is really close with her husband as they were friends before we even were together. So I can't tell her. My FIL knows but not my MIL (which I am tight with). As far as FB blocks. I had to block my niece who is 21 and due with her 2nd (1st will be 3 in March) by Baby Daddy #2. I just can't deal with all her incessant posts, etc.

To add to it, you will love the newest thing- @KC- she just sent me a text for my address. Apparently her friends are throwing her another shower since she claims to have gotten rid of everything, and she is using the excuse that this baby is a boy and her first was a girl- grrr!

A have a very fertlile friend who has 3 kids (her tubes are tied now) anyway, the first one (a girl) she had at 19. Obviously she had a baby shower then. In fact I threw it. But I was in college, not married, and not ttc.

Then 2 years later she got pregnant with a boy (different dad) and had another shower. Okay, I can kinda see it, different genders, low income household, etc.

THEN - 18 months later she got pregnant with another boy (again different dad) and you guessed it ANOTHER shower. "Because each child is a celebration" she claims.

I don't disagree. Each child is a blessing. But there is no way she needs all fresh baby gear a third time around. maybe just have a party minus presents ?

To top the cake she was getting married and had both the third baby shower AND a bridal shower.

By this time I was going through IF and was beyond annoyed.

As a result, when I finally did get pregnant I got all gender neutral gear, took meticulous care of it and I have been hoarding it for whenever number 2 happens.

My husband has one of those on his side of the family. (Please note I made sure to pin this on his family and not mine

) His cousin's wife had a shower for her first, which is normal. Except she registered for FOUR carseats... not just one, but FOUR. One for each set of grandparents, one for her car and one for her husband's car. Then, she asked for a slew of other things, some of which not baby related. Two years later she had her second, another girl, and had another shower. They called it a "sprinkle" but let's be real, it was a shower WITH a registry. Less than 2 years after that ANOTHER shower for ANOTHER girl. Did I mention, not one single thank you card for any gift all the way back from the bridal shower to the 3rd baby shower??? I learned my lesson after baby 1 and stopped going/buying gifts. Oh and at the bridal shower, one of the games was "empty out your wallet and whoever has the most change wins a dollar tree candle and the money goes to the bride and groom."

So... I caught it. Bad. My whole FB was infected today. One gf who already had three kids just posted pic of her 20 week belly and announced she was pregnant w a girl. Another friend posted her announcement with dirt sonogram w heartbeat. I was all like, double whammy! So scrolled and bam! Positive pee stick from another friend!!! What??? Is it national announce day???still in my good place but I was like, man, these ladies have 8 kids between them already!! Make that 11! I'm sure one of them will have twins right?!?!?!

That stinks! I'm sorry! You're in a better place than I am

I was just thinking the other day of all the people around who will probably start to announce any day now. Not that I don't wish them success, I do. But I just wish I could push the pause button so I had a chance to catch up. All my friends got to be pregnant together and I never got to join them.

Just wish I had the experience of getting to go through it with them. I know that's juvenile.

KC, it's not juvenile at all. It's nice to feel part of a community to share experiences and ask for advice. My bff and I had our first together -- within 7 weeks of each other. It was awesome. We went to breastfeeding support groups, play groups, etc. It was nice having someone to offer me support. She has since had her second, who is about to turn 2. In fact, she was gearing up to have #2, when DH an I started TTC #2. Bummer. At least I can open up to her about my struggles with IF. She's been so incredibly supportive considering she's probably the most fertile gal I know.

Momarazzi - I am so dreading going on to facebook because I'm afraid. It feels like they all come out of the woodwork at the same time. I'm hoping I'll have my turn soon.

Hey ladies, did you see the True Life: I'll Do Anything to Have a Baby episode on MTV? Someone told me about it, but I missed it. It's online now. It was a really good episode and it really hit home, especially with all the feelings tied in to IF. I wish they would have talked about their diagnosis... maybe they did and I missed it. It also shed a lot of light on IVF since I have no experience with that. Check it out on mtv.com if you're interested.

I have my IUI on Friday... I'm looking forward to it... and 2 weeks of comedies! I already have a few DVR-ed.

But I have one other movie that always makes me feel good (not comedy) okay major nerd alert! Pride and Prejudice!!

MJC I will pray for you on Friday! I am really optimistic for you. To tell you the truth I was shocked it didn't work the first go!

It's so hard, isn't it? You don't want to be this person who is bitter that other people don't struggle, but sometimes I think, "well, of course they are pregnant, why wouldn't they be? Everyone gets pregnant whenever they want."

Also, Pride and Prejudice (both the Keira Knightley version and the BBC version) as well as the book are amazing. No nerd alert needed!

KC.. Thanks for the vote of confidence!! It's pretty strange to have a "perfect" cycle and still get a BFN. I guess that's where God comes in.

Totally agree with your first thought here. I have a friend who's DH has one testical. They had no problem getting pregnant. And found at their daughter's 1st birthday, they are already pregnant with #2 (12 weeks). And I also wanted to chime in I love Pride and Prejudice, even the weird re-makes. Will watch that movie in any form. Have any of you seen Lost in Austin, it was on Netflix?
