Anyone use PECS??

DS still isn't talking (PDD-NOS), so we've started using a modified version of PECS to help him communicate some of his wants and needs. It is a laminated sheet with photos of his favorite foods. We also have ones for some of his toys and his bath toys. His speech therapist at school is going to help us expand it this fall (we don't have verbs beyond "I want" right now), so I'd love to hear any positive stories you gals may have. TIA!
