Sigh, mom update NBR

She found a job in Florida, and has two homes she's looking at. The manager is giving her a month to get down there. I am HEARTBROKEN. I am on the phone with her right now, barely able to hold it in. I can not let her know how sad this makes me. She just emailed me the pictures of the homes and had me give her my opinions.
She and my one sister, who is not used to kids, think that said sister can bring DS down with her when she goes to visit. She goes several times a year, just because. I am not comfortable with that. If her was older, maybe, but since she doesn't know jack shit about kids, um no. Not to mention she smokes weed all the time, and she would still do it with him there. Not in front of him or anything. She's a smart, professional, degree from Purdue, works in sales at PNC bank..., but she's not someone that would be able to handle a child for a week, understand a child, etc...
I am not going to handle this well at all. :(

  • Aww, honey. I'm so sorry :( I hope you find a way to visit more often. Can you guys at least Skype? I know how hard this is and I just want to give you a hug.

  • Well that sucks, I hope you can find a way to visit her. My father moved to FL for financial reasons and it was hard to deal with, we just talked on the phone a lot. Like pp said you can Skype or FaceTime at least you will get to see her that way and the kids will get to talk to her.

  • Sorry as well. :-(

Skyping is so easy! Works on computers, can download the app to a smart phone if did not come preloaded. The toughest part is the initial set up because it asks you a lot of things that it doesn't need to. Do you have a local friend who has already done Skype? If so, have that person help you set it up/ do a trial run using it with them. Makes it less intimidating if one of the people has previous experience with it.

  • I'm sorry. We Skype all the time with out of town family. Good luck, I know it will be hard.
