I've been trying to do my research on prenatal vitamins, and I would appreciate advice or to hear what you ladies have taken. It's important to me to be whole foods based, and I think I've decided on New Chapter perfect prenatal. However, when I look up what is recommended to be on a prenatal vitamin, a lot of the natural vitamins don't meet those recommendations for calcium, iron, etc. PLUS there's the whole DHA thing. And now I see that some people take prenatal vitamins cocktail style, where they take a prenatal vitamin plus other vitamins throughout the day to maximize absorption, etc. Also not to mention these are pricey!
Needless to say, I'm a little lost. Can you ladies give any guidance or point me to good resources? Thanks so much!
Re: Prenatal Vitamin "cocktails"?
Personally, I didn't bother with DHA and suspect that a lot of the hype is... hype. It can't hurt, though, especially if you're vegetarian/vegan or don't eat much fish.
