Trying to Get Pregnant

FMU question

I know you're supposed to use FMU for an HPT because it's less diluted. My problem is the last few nights I've had to get up to pee in the middle of the night (trying not to believe this is an early symptom). So how long do you think I need to sleep in order for it to be considered FMU? For example, last night I peed right before I went to bed around 11:00, then I woke up around 4am and peed, and then I woke up again around 10am and peed. I tested then, but I'm only at 10DPO, so it's too early for it to be very accurate, plus I don't know if I should really think of that as FMU. I'm a POAS-aholic, so I plan to test every day from now on. But testing more than once a day makes me feel like a crazy person. So, assuming this pattern continues, do you think I'd be better off using middle of the night urine, or first morning urine?

Also, most of next week I'll have to wake up around 6 or 7:00 instead of sleeping in like I have been. So that would be different than today when there were 6 hours between the two.

Re: FMU question

  • In my experience, it really only takes a couple hours.  I never sleep more than 2-4 hours in a row, and haven't had any problem with FMU after 3-4 hours of sleep.  If you wake up in the middle of the night, pee in a cup.  Use that.

  • If you haven't been drinking additional liquids, I'd say you're probably safe to do it at 4 or 10, whichever ones suits you better

  • A certified dept. of transportation urine drug test says wait 3 hours for valid results so I think you would be ok.
  • I can only guess and I think the PPs have said it well. I personally would test when I actually wake up. Getting a bfp at 4am might mean I'm not going back to sleep!

Maybe you can catch that one and save to test when you get up the second time.

You woke up at 10:00am??!! Wow, I am jealous. What a luxury.

Now to answer your question, I would test when you wake up at 10:00am because there is enough time in between the two wake ups.  GL!!

Yeah, I was almost embarrassed to admit that when I was writing this. I got 11 hours of sleep last night! I am a teacher so I'm not working this summer, plus DH is out town for a boys weekend so there was nothing to wake me up! I'm also trying not to think that being so tired is a symptom. I can't wait to go back to work just to get my mind on something else and stop worrying about the quality of my piss.

ETA: Thank you, everyone, for your responses!
