Jogging stroller question

I have been searching for a jogging stroller for months. It's nbd that I still don't have one yet cuz with as hot as it is here I do not wanna go outside for walks/jogs no matter how early or late it is. But soon the weather is going to let up and it will get cool again and I need to buck up and get a jogging stroller.

A issue that I have seen with some jogging strollers is that the seat backs aren't tall enough for kids starting around this age. The parents complain that the seat doesn't accommodate taller children and because of that, the canopy also is too low and gets in the kid's way. DS is in the 75th percentile for height so I feel a little concerned. Reviews for Bob and Joovy have stated seat height issues. Baby Jogger has not. Schwinn and Baby Trend haven't really mentioned the seat but seem to have smaller canopies and front wheel issues. (As you can tell, I'm a review reader.) It's still a toss up for which stroller I'll buy but can anyone give me some personal insight about the height of the seat thing? Anyone feel like their child will be too tall for their jogging stroller soon?

Re: Jogging stroller question

  • My 2.5yr old is still happy in the Joovy Zoom. For a tall kid, I'd get the Baby Jogger summit. They just redesigned it and you can get the older style (I think 2011/12) on clearance. The FIT is not a good stroller.

  • DS has been off the charts for his height since before 9 months and wee had him in the Babytrend expedition jogger. It works just fine for us. The canopy is smaller but you can just roll it forward for more face protection when the sun is coming at you from that direction. The front wheel can lock so you can run with it. Otherwise it can unlock for strolling around. Good luck!

  • My DD is tall and I don't see her outgrowing the Bob's canopy for years. The way the Bob seat is, the child is kind of reclined a bit anyway. You may want to try putting your baby in one at the store to check it out for height. I adore our bob :)

  • Charlotte is a big kid and still fits in our Baby Trend Expedition.  A girl I walk with puts her 4-year-old and 2-year-old in a Mountain Buggy and they fit just fine!

  • We have a BOB and DD still looks pretty small in there. I can't imagine her growing out of it any time soon. She's consistently in the 85-90% for height. I agree you should go put LO in a few diffent ones in a store even if you don't plan on buying from that store. Then you'll at least have an idea. I don't remember what brand they have, but my aunt and uncle have a double jogging stroller and their 3yo still fits and he's way off the charts for height (my uncle is 6'8). So I'm surprised there are so many reviews about babies outgrowing the height.

  • My tall 7 year old, is known to climb into my Bob Dualie every once in a while, if she is tired.

I agree with all of this. I like that you have the choice for the front wheel to lock or not the best. Its great to be locked when we are running but I think it is much more functional being able to piviot when we are using it out and about at like the zoo or museums, etc.

I have been using mine for jogging 3-4 times a week since he was roughly 6 months old and have had zero issues with the front wheel.

I can't really speak to the height thing though as my DS is a shorty! Like PP's sai if that is a concern try it out in the store to see what kind of room your LO has.
