Giant baby- GDM

And this is one of the reasons I don't understand people who want to try to "cheat" on their gestational diabetes screening (not that this lady did, but I just mean in general). Does this gigantic baby look healthy to you? So sad.

Oh my God! That is a huge baby!!! And the mother delivered vaginally. Wow! How could her GD gone undetected? I had no idea there was even a way to cheat the glucose test.

Oh my that is insane! I agree with you though, the ladies that have posted about trying to "cheat" on their GD test should really read this.

As far as I know I don't really think you can but I have seen some posts where ladies are asking how to do it which is absolutely ridiculous to me.

I'm not sure if this is cheating, but vomiting can give a false reading. I only know this because I had to do the 3 hour test and felt very nauseous a few hours in. I asked what happened if I were to vomit and was told it voided the test. Well I vomited with DS during the 3 hour test (somewhere near the end if it) and I passed the test but he was 8lbs 12oz so now I wonder if I had GD.

But also, you'd think that these lab technicians would ask you if you vomited, since its so important. Or at least mention it in the instructions. I mean, you give a pregnant woman a high sugar drink on an empty stomach and expect them to do okay with it??!!

Even more ridiculous than that, imo, are the women that don't want to take the test period because they don't like the drink, or want to eat, or don't want to take time out of their schedules.

GD gets more difficult to control the further along in PG. So it is possible she took the test around 24 weeks and passed then had to retake it later and didn't pass the next time. she may have only just crossed over into GD.

I don't understand why any mother would want to "cheat" something testing to ensure the safety and healthy well being of she and her baby. It is contradicting to opting for quality prenatal care.

And I feel bad for that woman who vaginally delivered that poor baby.

It's sad. But we don't know Germany's standard of testing. If they repeat test that are borderline or what. I feel awful for that baby tho :(

I am thinking she didn't go to her appointment or the GTT was done too early to catch her GD. That baby does not look healthy, I hope they are both okay.

During my last pregnancy I took the 3 hour test and passed. I didn't think anything else of it until we found out the baby was estimated to be 10.5 pounds. They think I possibly developed it later on but I was never retested to know for sure. I had a planned c-section...no way was I trying for a vaginal birth! I took the GD test early with this pregnancy and I do have it this time. Following it as close as possible in hopes this baby will be a bit smaller :)
It took 7 IUIs but it was totally worth it!

I had GD with my first pregnancy, I was over weight when I got pregnant so my doc tested my in my 1st and 3rd trimesterand I was diagnosed in 3rd trimester and by the end they estimated baby to be 8lbs 8oz, she was born at 7lbs 7oz. But this time I started off 40lbs lighter when I got pregnant again and passed my 3rd trimester 3 hr test so woohoo. That's the way to beat GD!
