OPK vs. Temp

edited August 2013 in LGBT Parenting
Hey friends! So, I have been charting with FF for quite some time now and have been fairly confident in the chart results. This month, however, I'm a little confused with my "patterns".

Back story for this month: Around CD 9, I started volunteering with make-a-wish and was getting less sleep than normal, sleeping in a colder room than normal and did not use an opk. My temps were higher than normal when I got home, when the room was much warmer and I had a little more sleep. OPK's were negative until tonight when I had a "close call" on a wondfo, so I used a digital and got a smiley face. My last few cycles have shown a positive around the same time each cycle, so I'm tempted to believe the OPK rather than FF.

Anyway, I'm attaching my charts if anyone wants to look and give me some advice. I would really appreciate it! We are trying our first AI next cycle. FWIW, I found a very inexpensive clear blue fertility monitor and will be picking that up tomorrow (hopefully I won't even need it).

TIA! (I can't figure out how to link my chart, so if you just click on the first sentence link, it will work)

Re: OPK vs. Temp

  • I'm thinking I agree with you that I would go with opk. Especially if there may be some reasons for the increased temp. If you're having a spike in your LH, then I think you are gearing up to O (and haven't yet). I would be curious if you get another clear temp rise in a day or two that lasts. Good luck next cycle!!!

  • I tend to trust temping more than OPKs, but I had weird experiences with OPKs and pretty consistent results temping.  Sometimes you just have to go with your gut (especially if your sperm is free and you have nothing to lose).  GL!
