Ear issue...opinions?

For the last few weeks, Koa has been hitting his (mostly) left ear. But not just batting at it for fun...he hits it with his open hand/toys/food and tries to hit his ear (and ultimately head) on the ground/bed/high chair/crib rail/etc. It finally got where he was doing it a lot so I took him to the pedi yesterday - nothing. He couldn't find a reason.
Anyone else have experience with this or heard of it? I'm kinda really worried... :-(

    A does similar. His ears have never shown a problem at the pedi. I honestly think it is his teething. It has bothered his ears for some reason from day one.
