Working Moms

2 weeks and counting...

2 weeks and I go back to work. Very anxious/nervous and already dreading missing my baby girl. For those who have already gone back or been through this w/ a previous child...when does it get easier? After the first day/week/month? Also, and this may sound dumb, but DD will still know who I am right? We developed a very strong bond these past couple of months...I just don't want to lose that.

Re: 2 weeks and counting...

  • I'll be going back to work soon as well and am also dreading it. I love this time I've had at home with LO and wish I could be a SAHM. I think you just take it one day at a time, and of course she'll still know you. She'll always know, want and need her mama.

  • I'm right there with ya, my first day back is Aug 13th and I am dreading it.

  • Definitely agree with PP - the anticipation is the hardest part. Followed by the first 2 weeks while you're learning how to balance multiple competing priorities. I've officially been back 2 months, and it's starting to feel like normal.

  • Thanks everyone! Glad to know that everyone gets thru this. It will be nice to get out of the house and be with adults, that's a plus. And between my mother and DH, DD has the best care. See, I'm going to try and look for the positives!

  • First of all, love the quote in your sig...

Secondly, I had a hard time at first but it does get so much better.  For us, it took a couple of months plus a change in our DCP situation until I was comfortable with being gone all day.

And yes, your LO will absolutely, 100% always know you are mom.  My DS is 8 and when he has a nightmare or ear infection he still calls out "Mommy come" in the middle of the night.  DH travels for work and is gone a few nights a week, but there is no replacement for dad either.  DS tells DH and me he loves us all of the time and that we are the best parents in the world.
