St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange VBAC?

Hi.  I'm pregnant with my second child, and am wrestling with deciding on a birth plan.  Our first daughter was delivered by C-Section after my water broke.  23 hours later, I hadn't progressed past 6 cm, my daughter was sunny side up and had disengaged.  I love my doctor, and I had a great experience in St. Joseph, but in researching for this baby, I can't find anything on their policies on VBAC.  Have any of you delivered VBAC at St. Joe?  What was your experience?  How was the recovery, and when did they release you?

Re: St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange VBAC?

  • I was going to do a VBAC there but my daughter ended up being 10 lbs 10 oz and my doctor didn't feel it was safe (which I totally agree and appreciate). I believe it will all depend on your doctor more than the hospital.

  • It's based on the OB and their malpractice insurance/experience/preferences/reason for your first C/S. I work there and we TOLAC all the time :)
  • Andiss, I was planning a delivery at St. Joseph's, however can not find any doctor that will attempt a Vbac or TOLAC there. I found a group that delivers our of Tampa General. But I would really like to deliver at St. Joseph's. Do you know any doctors that have recently done TOLAC there? If so u would really appreciate the info.
