It's time to pick a new birth control (I've been on the mini) and DS no longer gets BM. My dr. suggested Loestrin for the low amount of estrogen (because I told her I hate the side effects) or Yaz (because I tend to have pretty severe PMS). Yaz scares me due to all the commericals. I've read reviews for LoLoestrin FE and they were better than Yaz but some women felt it gave them horrible acne, others said it cleared up their acne, and some said it made them moody and tired.
What are you ladies on now?
I foresee a vasectomy in DH's near future.
Re: Picking birth control
H is planning on getting a vasectomy after the next one in a few years. So we are in the same boat as trying to figure out what to do in the meantime.
Hope you find something that works for you!
I have the para guard IUD now and have no complaints thus far. I had it placed in November. Supposedly it can give you super heavy periods, but I haven't had a PP period yet so I can't speak to that.
I'm on Mirena, which I love, but if you look around you'll see tons o lf love for it as well as tons of hate for it.
I have the Mirena now and I love it!
Also, I haven't had a period since before I was KU with DS. I don't know if that has to do with breastfeeding, but I stopped two weeks ago, and no signs of AF yet!
SCANDAL!
But I suppose everyone reacts differently to those things.

I've tried a few kinds of BC. I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen LO, a generic form of Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Depo-shot, the mini-pill, and now Mirena.
I've had no problems with any of the pills except remembering to take them every day. The depo-shot was great too except I never got my period and it freaked me out. At that time in my life it was reassuring to have a period every month so I knew I wasn't KTFU.
After DS I was on the mini-pill until I stopped BFing. I went on Mirena and HATED it. I bled every day! EVERY DAY. It wasn't until a couple weeks ago that it finally stopped. It took about 5 months. I'm loving it, finally. My periods are gone and I have no side effects. Since DH & I plan to start trying in another year or so its perfect for us. We can just get it taken out at that time.
Out of all of them that I've used I would stick with Mirena. Its so easy and even if the first few months suck, in the long run its great.
