Bradley Method / Doula recommendations in Chicago?

Hi All!

I am expecting in January 2014, and we are looking to have a natural childbirth (follow Bradley Method).  Does anyone have any recommendations on good classes in the area for birth preparation?

We are also hoping to have a doula that is familiar with Bradley, please let me know if you have any recommendations!

Thanks!
Jackie

  • Sharp Mamas does a great overview of Natural Pain Management and Comfort Measures during Labor and Delivery. The class is daught by Dr. Kristine Tohtz, a certified doula. In fact, she was my doula! I love her. The class is a really great intro to natural childbirth and does an overview of Bradley, but also introduces you to some great other natural pain management techniques. Hope this helps. They have this class monthly.

  • I've heard that Birthways is good.  There's also the Chicago Volunteer Doulas network.

  • Not sure on doulas but you should check with the hospital you are going to deliver at to see what classes they offer. Our ob have us a whole pamphlet with classes through our hospital that range from early on in the pregnancy all the way to things you may experience or need assistance with post-partum
