High-Risk Pregnancy

An introduction

I have been lurking for a while but haven't dared to make an introduction until today. I am 30.5 weeks and due October 5th with my 4th child and 1st girl. I was diagnosed at 28 weeks with Pre-E. and put on modified bed rest. This is my 4th pregnancy and 3rd time having it. (It developed much later with my boys). I have been going in weekly for NST and monitoring. I had my first 24 hour urine collection 2 weeks ago (levels were 410) and and a 2nd today (levels had jumped to 649). I recieved the first set of steroid shots last friday. Every time I go in my blood pressure has been low it was 118/63 during my NST today. I have had no swelling and very minor headaches. After seeing my 24 hour results today my doc wants to see me Saturday morning for blood work, a NST, and possible ultrasound. I am trying not to panic but not feeling optimistic. My goal was to make it to 34 weeks and there is a strong possibility they may schedule my c-section on Saturday (31 weeks)...depending on results from labs etc. Either way I am terrified. Looking for anyone that may be experiencing anything similar.

Re: An introduction

  • I've got nothing, other than good luck and we will be thinking of you!  Not knowing what is going to happen is so scary.

  • Sorry sweety your dealing with this.. If no one replies to this post maybe you can ask someone from the premmie board.. Best of luck, hope your labs come out better
  • No experience with that here but I want to say good luck.
  • Oh man, I am so sorry :( I have blood pressure issues when they use the automated machine to take it. If it's taken old-school style with the stethascope it's totally fine. I mean like a difference between 140/80's to 112/70. That is odd to me. I'll be thinking of you and hope that your little one can stay in there as long as possible!!!!

  • No experience here as well - but did want to say I'll be thinking of you and we'll be pulling for your LO to cook as long as possible.
  • I have no experience with pre e but my DS was born at 30.5 due to PTL. Although his NICU stay was long (47 days) and frustrating he had no major issues and did extremely well. GL to you!!!
  • No experience either but wanted to wish you luck and hope everything goes well.
  • I don't have any experience either, but when I was I the hospital at 31 weeks they were very helpful about telling me what it would be like caring for a baby born at that time. Ask your nurses questions if you think it will ease your mind. Most of mine were really good about staying positive and letting me know most babies do really well once they have the steroid shots. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
