Hi ladies- I've decided it's time to come out of lurkedom.
DH and I have been married since December. He is currently out of the country and I'm taking the opportunity this summer to get off bc and learn about my cycle before we TTC. I'm currently temping, taking OPK's and learning how to check CM and CP.
I have always had very irregular menstruation and a load of other fun female issues, most likely due to third generation exposure to DES. I have a feeling TTC is going to prove to be an interesting process!
Fun facts about me: I'm in HR, I can pogostick with no hands, 95% of the things I say in real life are sarcastic, I've been to 60+ countries, & I believe I have the ability to see into other people's utes to determine whether or not they are pregnant.

Also, what is DES?
DES is a drug (synthetic estrogen if I remember correctly) that women were given in the 40's-60's to prevent miscarriage. My grandma was given it when she was pregnant with my mom (she had a mc prior to conceiving her). Turns out it wasn't effective at all. In the babies exposed (my mom) it has shown to cause a drastic increase in risk for basically all female cancers (vaginal, cervical, etc), abnormalities in reproductive organs, infertility, preeclampsia, early menopause and late term miscarriage.
Research has also found that some of these things have changed the way genes behave in exposed babies (my mom) that are heritable to their children (me). A good example in my family is that all of my grandmothers children who were exposed to DES (2 girls) have both had cervical cancer. All of their daughters (me included) have had cervical cancer.None of us had HPV at the time of diagnosis.
It's an interesting thing to read up on if you're ever bored at work and want to google it. Diethylstilbestrol is the name of the medicine, DES for short (because really, how the hell do you pronounce Diethylstilbestrol?)

Welcome and GL!
Hopefully the DES doesn't complicate things for you. I have read a few studies on it and most of the research says that 3rd gen should be ok. That has been true for my cousin at least. I hope it will be for you as well!
