I'm going back to work on 9/11. DS will be 2 1/2 months old. My mom will be babysitting him 3 days a week from 9:15-6:30 sometimes 7:30. I told her I'd pay her for those 3 days. How much do you think is a reasonable amount? TIA!
Have you asked her what she is expecting? Did she leave it up to you? I would offer a flat daily rate maybe $50 on the low end bc she's family and all.

She never did say and she won't. She'll basically take what I give her w/ no complaints but I definitely want to give her what's considered a fair amount.
Fair amount varies based on where you live.. Could you try looking up some daycares/babysitters on Craigslist in your area to get an idea of what the going rate is?

I agree that if you are paying the going rate, it is probably closer to $10-15 per hour depending on where you live. However, I will admit that I have never paid my mother or my in-laws to watch LO. Granted, they don't watch him on a regular basis...just on occasions for things like date nights. Personally, I think the $50 a day amount would be reasonable. Others might disagree, but for me it seems like it is a little different scenario than hiring a stranger to come in and watch your child.

May 2014 January Siggy Challenge:
I pay my sister 900 per month for 5 days per week.
It's not even the ballpark for a nanny but is on the lower end of the going rate in my area for centers, and on track for in home care.
ETA: I also provide diapers, wipes, all food, and I bought equipment and toys.
