How many vaccines at the 2 month visit?

My daughter got 4 shots today, DTap, IPV, HIB and PCV plus the oral Roto Virus vaccine. I was talking to a friend and she said her pediatrician did a combo shot for the DTap, IPV and HIB and so her daughters only got 2 shots. Im wondering why my pediatrician didn't do this same combo?

What have others gotten?

Haha, ok so that's something different than what both myself and my friends kids got, she got 2 shots, my kid got 4 and yours had 3

There are combination vaccines - Pentacel is DTAP, polio and HIB. Pediarix is DTAP, polio and HepB. Different offices use different combinations depending on availability (and sometimes insurance). PCV isn't in any of the combos that I know of.

Weird, I wonder why mine gave it to us in 4 shots, my poor baby! I looked at the CDC recommendation and it does list all the vaccines she got, but I just don't know why he didn't do combo shots, other than the DTap, which is a combo of diptheria, pertussis and tetnus.

I'd ask if they have the combo shots - they may just not have been available at that time. Honestly, if they didn't have the combos at my Pedi's, I may consider going to the Health Dept to get them - less pokes makes mama feel better!

Yeah it was super hard to see 4:( I can't imagine 5

I think I will find out if they can do combos next time.

Ouch ): that's horrible, i didn't even like her getting two. But now hearing these comments about 4 or 5, I feel bad.

It seriously was horrible , I know there is so much worse out there. But I had to fight to not lose it in the drs office. I was and still an very upset with it all. Every time I think about it tugs at my heart strings! Never again.

Okay, every single one of you said your LO got something oral and mine did not, so now I have to get to the bottom of this. What is it and why didn't my baby get it? I'm a little worried.

It's for Rotavirus , it can also be given through a vaccine at 2 and 4 months. Orally they get it 2,4&6 months.

My daughter had two needles, one had five things and the other was one. Plus she had to drink one.

Edit At four months she will get all the same again. I am glad she didn't need more than two needles.

I don't know about the US but in the UK only babies born after 1st May 2013 are offered the rotavirus vaccine.

I am in Canada and that is part of the regular vaccination schedule in Ontario. Maybe it's not where you are.

Two shots plus the oral from the pedi. He was out of the third recommended shot so we had to go to the health dept. to get it, which does not bill insurance so we had to pay for it then try and get it reimbursed from the insurance.

Ok, I called my pediatrician this morning. He said that the combo shots were on backorder and that's why she didn't get it that way. My poor baby

Hopefully they have it sorted out by her 4 month visit, but I'm not sure if once they've gotten them singly if they can get them in a combo, I'm just not sure how it all works. But I do know it was heartbreaking and I am dreading her going through it 2 more times. She does seem ok today though

She hasn't spiked a fever, but does seem to be a bit uncomfortable, so she's had a couple of doses of tylenol in the past 24 hours.
