Our LO will STTN but the ONLY place she will sleep is in her swing we have tried letting her fall into a deep sleep then moving her to her crib or bassinet but she wakes up screaming. Are we alone in this? Also any advice?
Does she just like the rocking motion? I had a bassinet with DD1 that rocked, maybe if she could be rocked to sleep in something like that then she would not have to be moved and already be in her bed. Other than that I can't think of anything. Sorry and good luck!
I'm curious- when people say their LO sleeps during the night in the swing, is the swing on? My LO will sleep in the swing when it is on or off and I think she just likes how snug it is. She definitely sleeps more soundly when it's on though.
No judgement either way- LO takes all her naps in her swing all day, so I know how magic it is. Thankfully she also sleeps in her PNP at night (swaddled) too. We are moving soon, and I can foresee a few nights of her sleeping in the swing at grandmas house.
My LO in the beginning would cry and scream all night for the most part. She would sleep in her bassinet for about an hour but the only place she would fall asleep for a little longer was her swing. We let her sleep there with it on until she fell into a sound sleep then we shut the rocking off. We did take away the bassinet because she was shaking it so we tried the pnp which only works really during the day. Anyhow what we ended up doing was putting her right into her crib. There was crying in the beginning of her transition but it ended her sleeping in her swing. She was about a month old. Not too sure how comfortable you are with not having her next to you at night but that's how we broke that habit.
My LO is STTN, but in her bouncy seat. Like PP said about the swing, I think it is because she likes the snug fit of the hammock part around her. She hated the swaddle and would fight to get out of it so that never worked like it did with my 2 older kids. She just turned. 3 months so I am going to transition her into her crib. I've been doing more floor play to get her more used to being "open" versus always snug during the day. I'm hoping this will make the transition easier.
My DS slept exclusively in his swing from the beginning of June until a week ago. He also started STTN in it. Before that he only would sleep in his bouncer. I embraced it and was just glad I was getting more sleep.
I was starting to get worried about transitioning him but at the same time the swing sleeping was going so well that I was about to buy another one for my parents' house. I even posted about it. But literally the day before I was going to buy it he started rejecting the swing. I went to put him in it for one of his naps and he kept his little body straight as a board so I couldn't put him in it and he twisted his body to the side too. He also would do this when I tried putting him in the bouncer. After that happened I put him in the crib for the first time and while he didn't STTN, he slept a long stretch. Now it's been almost a week and he is working his way up to longer stretches. He did 6 1/2 hours last night. I think he was just ready and he let me know. He still takes a nap in the swing occasionally.
He did have issues with his limbs flailing around in the crib an waking him up so I just got the Merlin's magic sleep suit. We used it for the first time last night and that's when he slept the 6 1/2 hours.
For PP, we have a Fisher-Price snugabunny swing and bouncer and he would sleep with the swing on.
Good luck! These babies are hard to figure out sometimes!
ETA: sorry I don't know what happened to my paragraphs!
We have the Snug a Bunny. A didn't like it at first but has come to love it. I had to keep putting her in it when I ran to the bathroom or whatever and she slowly lasted longer and longer before she would start crying. Now we sometimes have to wake her from a 3 hour nap in it. We actually took it apart and took it on vacation with us.
We love the Snug A Bunny too! Husband and I spent the better part of last Saturday trying to figure out if there was a way to take it with us when we make our big move next month (international flight and then living in a hotel for a while). We've decided we will just buy another one when we get to the States and keep the spare at the grandparents house.
I can't wait to hear the answers. My ds loves his swing at night. I've been trying to get him to sleep in his crib which is in our room but he won't and if he does its only for a short time. With the swing I start off with white noise and level 2 or 3 then I go down to 1 and finally nothing so he's just sleeping in the swing w/out motion. I need a new solution and a daytime solution...help!
