Stay at Home Moms

Ya know those whole cooked chickens from the grocery store?

What's the best way to reheat one? I'm going to Costco tomorrow morming and I'd like to get one for dinner. When I get them, I always make something out of it - like chicken pot pie or chicken chili - we almost never just cut it up and eat it. I have a bunch of stuff to prep tomorrow for the party on Saturday so I want something quick and easy for dinner. Also, it'll be warm when I get it home. I just put it right into the fridge, right?

The ones I buy say how to reheat right on the package. But I would guess you could put it on a baking pan in the oven to warm up. if it's still warm when you get it home, I would let it cool first before you put in fridge. Otherwise it could throw off the temp of your fridge/other foods.

  • I'd put it in the fridge and then put it on a cookie sheet (something oven friendly) when you want to reheat it.  I'd probably put it in at 350 for 20 minutes and check every so often after that.  I'd just keep an eye on it.

To be honest, I've never reheated a whole chicken before.  I usually just cut out the meat I want and discard the rest.  We call it "astronaut chicken" and it's so easy.  I love it!
