Arghh (NBR)

I think I may have a cataract in my right eye.  My eye dr wants me to come in tonight and have an exam done, plus I need to have it done before Sept 30, because my dept is closing and I'll be out of work, ie no hlth ins.  Well I tell my husband and he's acting like this is a burden on him and he's giving me a hard time about taking me home if they dilate my pupils.  He wants me to walk home because the office is 10mins from the house.  Am I being unreasonable about him walking or driving me home?

  • He's a SAHD, so there's no time to take off, and my mil will watch the baby so he wouldn't have to take her with him.
  • No, I think he should come get you because you don't know how you're gonna feel after. If you do have to walk home make sure you bring sunglasses because lights are gonna seem really bright if they dilate your pupils.

  • I agree with JandACoffee. He has no reason why he can't help you out and drive.

  • Prepregnancy, there were a few times where I asked DH to take me to an appointment or stay home to help me with something (or even go on a vacation). Sometimes you just have to have the mini fight and in the process point out that it is not something you regularly request, and even if he is just in the waiting room, you'll feel better that he is there and that you'd do the same for him (to which he'd say he wouldn't ask you for such things). It takes time to find a happy balance, but point out that you are not sure how you'd feel afterwards, etc. (eye dilation is not fun, especially on sunny days).
