My son is 10 months and has been breastfeed since he was born. My wife's supply is dropping and we are thinking about possibly supplementing formula. does anyone have any suggestions? He does eat baby food, but sometimes it feels like that isn't enough.
Re: Formula recommendations
Thanks for the advice. She still BFs him in the morning, @ night, and pumps during the day for his bottles at daycare. We have some in the freezer, but she feels she has a hard time keeping up with him eating.
Good for her for keeping up with it this long. Also, he may just need more solids. At 10 months he could be eating finger foods. Mine was eating breakfast, lunch and dinner plus two snacks a 10 months and it was/is mostly finger foods. Generally you want to increase regular foods, not BM/formula at this age.
Things my son eats are fruit, grilled cheese, pb on toast, (used to eat veggies, but now get them in pouch form since he refuses them otherwise), beans, cheese, yogurt, chicken, turkey, salmon, tilapia...pretty much anything fairy soft and chopped up into bit size pieces.
ETA: This is the eating schedule my son has to keep in the next room at daycare and he has to move in a few weeks. You may want to find out when your son will move up and what the expectations are for snack/meal times. They may want to start getting him on that schedule if it is coming up soon.
Good luck!
Thanks! He won't move daycare rooms till he is 18 months so we have awhile yet for that. His current room has him on a pretty good feeding schedule of every 2 hours with baby food in between bottles unless he has a long nap. They also give him gerber puffs and wagon wheels for snack time with the older ones in his room. We are just started giving him table food like mashed potatoes and bread. He only had his front 4 teeth right now.
