Gift for older sibling

Does anybody have ideas or suggestions for a gift for the older sibling from the baby? My DD is 5 and I'm trying to come up with a fun gift from her baby sister that we will give her at the hospital. I would love to hear what others are doing or suggestions.

We'd talked about it when we were expecting dd2, but she came a little early and we didn't have time to get something. It wasn't needed. Dd1 was elated that she'd jst gotten a real live baby doll. It was gift enough! Both my girls now have been talking about rocking and singing and feeding etc this baby and are so excited. To them, this is going to be the best present ever!

I'm not into the gift "from baby." I don't know why. I just don't get it. But I think I will give our 2 y.o. boy a little gift from us (mom and dad). I have a hand crafted wooden airplane that I bought on an impulse a while back and I've been waiting for an occasion to give it to him. Not helpful for your DD probably but for my boy, ANYTHING vehicular does the trick!
For a little lady? Hmmm... Something she'd love that is also interactive to help keep her occupied? As a little girl I loved a urging I could make. At that age, little bead necklace making stuff, painting materials... Maybe a little camera and she can help take pics of the babe

My DD will be almost 2, but we got her a big sister bag to be filled with a new cup, book, coloring book and drawing books and markers. Mostly there will be things to keep her occupied at the hospital.

I was thinking of making up a little bag of snacks, toy cars, and a coloring book for the hospital for DS. Maybe a toy from the new movie Planes since DS loves watching the commercials for it.

My DD will be 18 mos and we are getting her a stroller and bassinett for her baby dolls. I think she will love it and will get to copy mommy.

DS is 7 and I am getting him something to ease the transition from only child to having a sibling. I found a "big brother" dog tag that will have his name on it on Etsy that he is getting, a disposablecamera for him to take his own pics of LO, and maybe a new movie or two and some little treats to help keep him occupied in those first few weeks home.

I have been getting books, stickers, snacks and such that we plan on giving DD who is 2. Also her new big sister shirt, mainly stuff that can occupy her during our stay at the hospital.

We got matching big and little brother shirts that they will give each other. Also ds "bought" a stuffed toy for his brother and ds2 got his big brother a Thomas the train activity pack I found on etsy. Just something small.

We got DS a Lightning McQueen car for DD to "give" to him when he comes to the hospital to meet her. I know it's not necessary, but we're doing it.

DD is just excited in general, but because she is giving the baby the going home outfit and a little toy, I did go out and get a Big Sister book for DD1, a new big sister tshirt (which DH has already shown her, so it's just in her closet now to wear home when baby comes home), and then I plan on getting her some activity type books (so far I've picked up 2 dry erase letter/number books)and maybe somethign small for a character/toy she likes (like Sofia the First something or other). She already has a ton fo baby dolls and with her age and starting 4K in Sept, I wanted ot concentrate on more activity/busy things so that if I'm busy with baby, I can at least have a suggestion of something she can work on or play with.

I was going to, but DS is so flipping excited about the "Big Brother" shirt hanging in his closet that I don't think we'll need anything else. He keeps telling me "Mommy, I'm gonna take this to Granny's house when you go to the hospital and then I'm gonna wear it when I meet baby Jackson. Because I'm not a big brother yet. But I will be when he comes out of your belly!"

I made the bad decision of mentioning to my 2 year old DS that maybe the new baby will bring a "suprise" at the hospital. Now everytime we pass the hospital he says Suprise from Baby Kellen, i want Elmo chair. So looks like he may get an elmo chair

I like the Build a Bear idea, but when my second wad born my MIL bought DD1 a kid camera for the hospital and she loved it. Made her feel like a big girl. This time I think I will get both daughters a disposable camera to take pics and keep them occupied at the hospital.

I want to make a Cabbage Patch-style doll for her. I wanted to make it anyway (I've made them before for kids I knew), and figured a special new "baby" for her to take care of will help her feel part of things. Then she can change, feed, burp, etc. her "baby" while I do the same with the new baby.

I took my DD to build a bear and she got a bear for her baby brother last week, she loves stuffed animals so I know it means something to her to create a special teddy bear for him. My plan is to get her the Leapfrog Tag reader system and have it on my hospital bag from the baby to her, I know she will enjoy the gift and I hope it will help with having to share our attention with the baby as she will occupy herself for a while with the new books.

We did some toy trains because that's what he is really into. I think I will ask my mom to take him to target or someplace and pick out a present for his sister while she is watching him. I'm not sure if we picked it out in advance he would remember long enough for it to make a difference

We're focusing on getting busy toys to keep DS (28 months) occupied, like duplo cars, colouring books, magnetic scenes, etc. Grandma is also buying him his first golf set, she golfs we don't, when she arrives to help around my EDD.
