Here's the link, I don't know how reputable this site it, but if it's true, go Kate!
I went med-free with DD and will be doing it again. I loved the experience. While i'd never say going med-free makes your any better than someone who didn't, I will say that it is a very unique and empowering thing and I hope she had a wonderful experience.

That's great that she was able to follow her birth plan. In the UK it is a lot more common to go med free. I was told I really have to speak up in order to get the epidural.
@mrsjenni I think that's what I liked most about the article, that she was able to have the kind of birth she wanted (at least as far as we can tell). That's really what I hope we all get regardless of what kind of birth we're planning, that it goes as close to plan as possible. I'm being mushy. Anyway, and np about med-free vs natural, natural is a very fuzzy label and it's just easier and clearer to say med-free.

Agreed. Natural =/= Med-Free. Med free = Med free. I think all births are natural, even when medical assistance is involved (i.e. epidurals, inductions, c/s, etc.) But, ya know... whatever.
Anyway, I hope you get the birth that you want too!

I love the way you phrased this. When I was pg with DS a bus driver in the city asked me when I was due (I was 38 weeks) and then said "you're not going to use drugs are you? I think women who do that are terrible." Then a coworker told me that she hoped I was getting an epidural because "doctors don't want to deal with women screaming and freaking out." I get so annoyed at everyone being so judgmental about meds or no meds so it's nice to see this put so well!
I do feel bad for her having a group of Doctors watching everything from behind a glass window. She must have felt a bit like a test subject.....4 midwives, nurses and a team of doctors. Aye!
I went med-free with DS ... Loved the experience and hope to do it again!!
Same here! I progressed too fast for the epidural, but I was so thankful it worked out that way. I get the hype over going med-free now. I'd never say never to getting meds, but I do hope I can do without with this baby.

Oh, and thanks for not saying natural. That always irks me.
Same here! I've also heard people using the word natural for a vaginal birth vs. c section. Pregnancies and births are all natural and wonderful no matter how that little peanut makes it into the world!
