So, no luck this month for us (TTC wise) but that gives me more time to obsess about names.  This is what we have for a boy (we are set on girl names).  If you could-- would you suggest an alternate name for each (or more if you want!)?  These are our top 4.  Throw it all out at me-- I am willing to consider any style.

    I love August.  Met the most adorable little boy at the beach the other day and he was August but went by Gus- I immediately made a mental note to remember it.      August Henry or Henry August I think are perfect names.   I know so many Roberts in their 40's and 50's in and around my family so that kind of kills it for me.   I like Oscar just not sure I would use it--   I wish I immediately thought of Oscar Wilde but unfortunately I think Meyer and Grouch first instead...

    My grandpas were Henry and August so I love those names.

    Alternatives:
    Oscar - Oliver
    Robert - Richard. Also like pp suggestion of Timothy.

    I like all of your names listed except for Oscar (all I can think of is Oscar the Grouch).  The previous posters already listed my suggestions.  :)

    I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you for next month!!!

    Oscar is our #1 boys name! I just love it. So I wont give you an alternate to that.

    Oscar:  My mind goes to vintage and German, so, Freidrich.  

    Robert:  I think, classic, and easy to make a standard nickname from.  Thomas

    August:  Strong, Latin.  Julius.

    Henry:  Very old, regal.  Edward.

    These were ALL on our boy name list - great choices. Something I struggled with though, can you use a month name if the child is not born in that month? Something seems off about that to me when you consider the meaning.

    The only one I don't love is Robert.  Oscar is okay, but the other 2 are great!
