DS2 is 11.5 months old and is HORRIBLE about this now. He uses a paci a lot and now thinks it's awesome to chunk it over the side of the crib and have a meltdown if it's not returned. Return it to him and he'll put it in his mouth for a couple seconds then take it out and chunk it. This morning I left him alone without his paci and after several minutes of crying (maybe 10 minutes) he went to sleep for a whopping half hour. His naps are usually 1.5 hours. It's time for afternoon nap and he was playing the paci game again. I left the room with the paci on the floor. He's crying. Ugggghhhhh why does he do this and should I just ditch the paci for good? I guess he will eventually get used to it? I don't particularly care if he uses one or not, he is just pretty oral (DS1 is the opposite) and I didn't want him to start sucking his thumb. I was hoping we'd get several more months of peace with it but I know the transition has to come at some point. I don't really want the paci beyond 18Mish (not judging anyone who does, just my preference).
Re: Throwing the paci
Wow, 90 weeks pregnant, that would be awful!
Have you tried a clip to clip it to his shirt?
Oh... I hadn't thought of that. I wonder what he would do. And you know what -- I just GAVE AWAY that paci clip because we never used it when he is awake. Doh. I can get another one and try it. Sometime this week.
