Stay at Home Moms

Crap.

"how exactly does the baby get inside of the mom?"  "how do two people have sex?"

.. are not words I want to hear as I'm tucking kid into bed.  She's asked these things before, but not quite in that manner- I got away with vague answers that were mostly age appropriate.  But she kept asking all these crazy specific questions tonight.  Then she started asking about boobs, periods, the works. <~ these I can totally handle, though.

I need a handbook? I was about to go curl in a corner of the room and rock. I gave her the answers, of course.. but I'm not really ready.  Guess I don't have a choice, huh?  My kid is growing.. :(

  • American Girl has a good book for those questions. I bought it for DD1 when she was about 8 or 9. She still reads it.

Ohh thanks, I'll look into this.

Hav- wow.  My DD has known what a period is for years. Mostly because she's my shadow and followed me into the bathroom when she was younger and asked.  Tonight she just asked more specific questions "when will I have it?" "how will I know when I get it?"  etc.  But she's known what it IS for years.  I'm so surprised a 10 year old wouldn't! She'll be clueless when she gets it soon!

I started my period a week before my tenth birthday.  Your SIL better start talking soon!!  OP, I don't look forward to this phase!  Thankfully, my kiddos are still babies, but so not fun for you to be put on the spot with that conversation!
