It helps having a very competitive mentality. I used to take it out on video games (Still do whenever I get the time to play), but now I focus on trying to be as great as I can be both mentally and physically so I can join what is considered the toughest basic military training. (Although all of the branches are excellent)
I have also tunneled my perfectionist mindset towards my body. That has both been bad and good for me.
I do not ever want to be 350lbs again. I felt so disgusted with myself being out of breath after a block of walking at the ripe old age of 23. I don't ever want to shop at special clothing stores meant for bigger women, because every single item looked like old people things and just basically tarps with frills on them (I am a tomboy so I mostly wore mens things).
Now that I have my son, I want to be able to last throughout the day with him if he wants to go hiking in the woods when he is older. I want to actively help him in sports if he ever wants to do any. I want to live. I do not want to just exist.
I'm with you, siesta. I had good motivation for three weeks and now it's gone. I go to back to work in a week and am hoping that will help getting back into a routine and working out over lunch hour since we have a gym at the office. I say all this as I'm sipping wine and eating tater tots.
I got up & did sit ups every morning for three days lmao. Sleep trumps exercise & I'm terrified my supply will drop. No motivation at all, that's why maxi dresses are my best friend this summer
Maybe an event coming up? I am a bridesmaid in a wedding in October and I really want to keep trimming down and toning up so everyone will be impressed at how fab I look after giving birth! I know it's a little shallow, but whatever.
Also, DH and I are really trying to eat healthier and get active because it's really important tous that we are positive, healthy role models for our son. It's also why we are going to do family dinners at least 5 nights a week once we start BLW in a few months. It will be so nice to all sit down together and enjoy a meal, and we want to model healthy eating habits from the start.

I had a lot of motivation about a month ago. I would walk or do a workout video everyday with LO or while he napped. This past month, I have has zero motivation. I think it is mostly due to LO sleep regression and family activities every week with DHs family. . Summer is full of birthdays and such. Which means a lot of eating out and desserts. My thighs are def getting flabbier.
I go to work next week and I'm hoping once I get over the I total withdrawals from my LO, I'll get my butt in gear and work out after work before I pick up LO from daycare.

This. Except instead of sit-ups i did lunges. My thighs are my worse issue
I'm EBF. And I've heard alot of moms say they don't want to workout because of losing their supply. Will that happen? Working out makes your supply drop?
Because when you work out you burn more calories, calories that could be used making milk. So you need to eat excess amounts if you are going to exercise and breastfeed.
Eating a lot more does not help in the losing weight department, lol.
Not really, just... you have to be eating a lot of the right things. Oatmeal for example is a great breakfast and boosts supply and helps you lose weight while you exercise. Eat a lot of protein and good fibrous carbs while exercising and you should be good. It takes extra work to breastfeed and lose weight, it can be done, just a pain in the butt.

I agree. I am losing weight while EBF, but it's very slow. I eat 2000ish calories a day and more on days that I exercise.
