My DF (soon to be DH) have decided to find out what LOs gender is at the 18-20 week ultrasound, but will wait until Christmas time to find out what the gender is as a present to each other. My mom kept the secret of my DD's gender for 4.5 months (she was possibly dying and I didn't want to know the gender) and we have decided to give her the ultrasound pic and have her shop for a gender obvious going home outfit for baby and wrapping it in a box with festive paper.
We don't want anyone else to know because then the opinions, name suggestions, and blue or pink only gifts will start to appear. We like the idea of doing a private gender reveal, but having to wait until closer to my due date to know, though we will have time to update baby's possible layettes and supplies depending on what we find out. I'm rooting for a boy just because I keep dreaming about one, and my daughter wants a sister (and most of her clothes can be reusued too!)
What are other people doing for gender reveals if they are not staying Team Green?
We are definitely staying Team Green, but if we weren't that is how I would want to do the reveal...Just us and our kids. We can tell everyone else after but the initial moment I would want to be a private thing.

I really would like to find out as a Christmas gift, but my husband doesn't want to wait. He told me last night that he was looking forward to finding out the gender the most.
I'm thinking that hubs and I may keep it our little secret until the baby arrives. This will be extremly hard for us...neither of us can "hold water" I really like the idea of it though..
Yeah, the secret could be hard to keep which is why we will do it closer to due date. I don't mind now telling anyone for the reasons I stated before. And DF's mother does NOT get to know before hand because she will tell EVERYONE. DF has a cousin in France who knows I'm pregnant now!
It's a cute idea. If you want something personal just for your family that's similar (but you don't have to tell anyone), we had friends that gave the U/S tech both a little doll with a pink diaper, and one with a blue, and she placed the "correct" one in a box that they wrapped up and opened on Christmas morning with their other kids.
With out last pregnancy, we found out on Christmas morning. Our anatomy scan was a week earlier, and we had the ultrasound tech put one of the ornaments we decorated in a box. We taped it shut and wrapped it in the office so we wouldn't be tempted to open it. We found out on Christmas morning that we were going to have a boy We re-wrapped it for each set of parents, too.
we are having a small family get together at 22 weeks for ds#2 1st birthday , we are doing a buzzy bee cake and it will say what will my new sibling bee and then be either pink or blue inside,
Wow I don't think I could wait till Xmas!!! I am so impatient! We will let the boys spray each other with silly string.(either pink or blue depending on the sex)
