December 2013 Moms

Worrie sick..

I know I don't make many threads on here but I have been stuck to this board since the day I had my BFP. I don't usually make as many comments on posts like most of you ladies, simply because by the time I get to thread my thoughts and/or advice has already been stated numerous times by other posters. Sorry..I am ranting. I would like to ask you all to say a little prayer for my baby girl tonight. I had a follow up ultrasound today due to the tech not being certain there were issues at my a/s. Today my OB confirmed my baby has choroid plexus in the right ventrical of her brain. We go to USA in Mobile, AL to meet with a perinatologist tomorrow. Are there any moms with similar issues or anyone with any experience in this situation? Sorry for typos, mobile bumping and can't seem to stop crying right now.

Re: Worrie sick..

  • So sorry that you are going through this.  Sending thoughts and prayers for you and your LO.  I don't know anything about chloroid plexus.  Is it treatable?  Keep us posted on how you are doing.
  • My OB would nt go into much detail with us about anything. He told us that he can only state whether it looked normal or abnormal..and hers looked abnormal so he set me up with a specialist. My OB has really upset up with this whole ordeal, but I understand he Ian specialized in that area. Thank you for your prayers.

  • Wow so sorry to hear this bad news. Praying that when you get to Mobile you get good news. Sending prayers your way. Update us when you can we will all be thinking about you.
  • I'm so sorry you're going through this. Try typing "choroid plexus" into the search feature (not sure of you can do this on mobile). There are some ladies who have recently posted about receiving this diagnosis.

Lots of positive thoughts and hugs to you.

This, I definitely remember someone talking about this recently, but unfortunately I can't remember Who it was or what was said. I'm so sorry you're going through this, and I'll be praying for you and LO.

  • Are you talking about a choroid plexus cyst? If so there are a lot of ladies in here that were told their baby had one, including me. If it's isolated, then it's not really anything to worry about especially if you've had any testing already that came back normal, like the quad test. There have been a few post on this, so just do a search.

  • Thanks ladies. I'm only mobile and it's not allowing me to pull any information up. I will try again when I get to a computer. Thank you all though.

Google it, there's a lot of info about it on the Internet. I was freaking out when my doctor told me about it, even with him telling me it wasn't anything to worry about. I researched it as soon as I got home and I felt much better. I read that they occur in about every 1-2% of all pregnancies and Trisomy 18 will show other markers.

That stinks that your doctor couldn't answer more questions or give you more info... it's not like he's an u/s tech, so I'd expect more info from an OB.  T&Ps for your LO, and you while you await more news.  I hope you get a great specialist who can help you understand what you're dealing with, and put you at ease a bit!
  • Keeping you in my prayers. I know it's hard to stay calm but stressing is not good for you or LO so focus on the positive hope some of these ladies have shared.
  • At my anatomy scan my doctor noticed a CPC and enlarged kidneys on my baby girl. I was also sent to the high risk clinic at USA in Mobile. When I went there the doctor also told me my baby had a slight "lemon head". I opted for the materniT21 test after talking with the doctor at the high risk clinic. I was really stressed for the next few days and decided to go back for an amniocentesis. My results came back negative for T13, T18, T21. I will continue seeing high risk doctor and my normal doctor for the rest of my pregnancy. The point of this long post is, in my opinion, your doctor has to tell you the worst but the odds of anything actually being wrong with your baby are slim to none. If you have any questions, please let me know! I know how stressful it is to be told something may be wrong with your baby! You and LO will be in my thoughts and prayers!!!
  • Thank you all so much. I have googled and for once, I'm not kicking myself for it. AMC0603, which doctor did you see at USA? We will be seeing Dr. Lewis. Thank you for your comment, that has made me feel alot better about all of this!
  • I wish I had some advice to give but I don't. I am so sorry for what you and your family are going through. You will be in my thoughts!

  • There were two threads on this in the past week. My baby also had me. Made me feel a lot better to hear other ladies going through the same thing. Sounds like it is just a normal part of development in most cases. It is the part of the brain that produces flood for the spine. A cyst is just fluid so......good luck and try not to worry! Advances in technology are a curse and a blessing.

  • Interesting about the better u/s technology causing more false alarms.  Hoping all is ok with baby.
