  • Our little one will come home in something that will not push on/irritate her stump.  Outside of that, IDK what yet. Probablly an outfit that I think is cute. I don't think a dress is realistic here since it is October and cool in my state. Maybe a onesie (looser fitting) and pants (that sits under the stump). Although maube a pair of footed pjs if they release me at 8pm again. *sighs* I guess our hospital is known for this.

  • I had a cute FAO Schwartz footed pajama outfit for DS#1 which I've since packed away in his memory box.

For DS #2 I bought kickee pants footies with paws as someone had gifted me a kickee pants outfit for DS#1 and I fell in love with the material.  They'll cover his feet and hands which is good for a newborn, but the bamboo material is fairly light and very soft so good for summer and his belly button stump.

  • I had a lot of cute little outfits to choose from for our little girl but there was one in particular that just stood out to me. I would go for something comfortable but cute.

  • Having a home birth, but in the event that we do end up at the hospital I will have a bag prepared.  My plan on picking an outfit is to pick out my 2 or 3 top picks, then pull a number out of a hat or something lol.

  • I let DH pick it out of our baby clothes - two newborn outfits and two 3 month outfits (since we don't know how big he'll be and in case he poops in/pukes on the first one we put on).  I figure I'll think he's adorable no matter what he wears and DH is really particular.

I don't think so.  Baby will be cute in anything and you are just getting them home, exciting the hospital, a car ride, and then home, it's not like it's a photo shoot :)

  • H and I will probably go shopping closer to September and find an outfit that we both think is cute.  I am not putting much thought into it.
  • I plan to bring a few different outfits so that I'll have options to choose from depending on how the weather is.

  • My family has an outfit that goes back 3 generations.  My mom and all her siblings, me and my cousins, and now all of our children have come home in the same gown.  It's special to me to keep up the tradition.

I'm in this boat. I will bring a couple things in case she is bigger or smaller (I'm fairly sure NB sizes won't fit her) , but I'm not super worried about it.

  • My mom has bought all of my nieces and nephews thier outfits, so naturally she bought ours as well. She's very southern, it's not something I would pick but its cute
  • I was wondering this earlier tonight. I thought maybe just some pjs with dinosaurs or a soft onesie and a bear hat... you guys have some lovely outfits picked out. Makes me feel like a slacker, haha.
  • My baby came home in a onesie.  Nothing exciting.  It was 107 degrees in Arizona the day she was born.  I don't even remember what I came home in, but I think it was a sundress that hid the post-delivery underwear the hospital gave me.  No one saw any of us, so I didn't see the point in this.

This. I have a plethora of carters outfits. DD wore the duck one (with the yellow hat). I will probably stick this LO in the lady bug one or something.

I am letting hubby decide, although it's our first child together.
This will be the first boy he is obviously extremely excited.
He wasn't able to have much say at all in the important decisions of his girls.
So I think in him picking it out it will mean a lot.

  • We packed 4 different ones, all various sizes/types (shorts/pants/sleeper, etc) based for weather/temp/etc.

  • I am with a PP that doesn't care. I'll bring a onesie and a hat/scratch mittens in NB and 0-3 months just in case. But really its a 10 minut car ride that no one will care about / see LO during. So to me it just doesn't matter. I'll throw in the bag the first thing i pull out of the drawer in each size and call it a day. Like someone else said its just LO coming home, not a photoshoot.

I do think the tradition someone mentioned is extremely cute!

  • I had many good intentions with regards to a homecoming outfit. With DS - I actually found a onesie at the GAP that said homecoming king. But given I'm due in 3 days and still haven't gotten anything - this little lady may just come home in a super cute sleeper.
  • Last time it was recommended to use a kimono shirt so we didn't irritate the baby's umbilical cord. So we have two unisex outfits with kimono shirts, pants, and a hat just in case things go like last time and LO decides to puke as soon as we put an outfit on them.

I feel the same way. When I brought home DS I wondered why people put so much thought into it?

I mean, it was an epically awesome 15 minute drive home and all, but unless my neighbors are planning some kind of parade with ticker tape for DS2, I just don't care!

DS2 is going to wear the same Carter's sleep n play DS1 did a few years ago. I thought it was cute and will make for a nice side by side pic.
     DS1 8/2011. DS2 8/2013.

  • I am going to bring two different outfits, since we know she is on the small(er) side, and see which one fits her best.

My only requirement was that it was soft, cotton, and easy to dress her in. So, nothing fancy.

That's a great way for DH to feel involved. Good idea esp if you are one of the ones that don't care much.

  • per family tradition, my Mom bought the going home outfits.
They have matching footie PJs with adorable hats with ears. There's a small bear on the front, so the hats have bear ears.

I feel the same way.  I only have about a 10 min. drive home anyway.  I'm sure I will have an outfit that can be spit up on.  Babies look cute in anything.

  • I packed 2 simple outfits, one with long sleeves, and one with short sleeves, both completely adorable, of course! Neither are anything fancy, I want to make sure she is comfortable in whatever we take her home in.

  • My daughter was brought home in a solid white onesie. :( The outfit I had picked was just my favorite but it ended up being to hot for her to wear.

Little one this time will be going home in a onesie that says "little brother."
