Mobile. "I did it! A natural hospital birth....
On the evening of July 27th, I noticed I was having fairly frequent Braxton Hicks contractions so I decided to time them. They weren't painful by any means so I didn't think anything of them really until I realized they were 5 minutes apart lasting about 1 minute each. I timed them for two hours straight from about 8:30-10:30 and they were spot on consistent. Since they weren't hurting me, I decided I better lay down and get some rest while I still could... Well, I woke up at midnight with crampy period like feelings in my gut. I got up and went the the bathroom to find that my mucus plug feel out and my bloody show was beginning.
At this point my contractions were about 2-3 minutes apart but only lasting about 30-45 seconds. It was then that I decided I better let my doula know what was going on so she could come over. I labored at home for as long as I could. At about 5:00am we decided it was probably time to go the the hospital because my contractions were picking up AND because I checked my "purple line" and it was pretty high up so I knew I was dilated to at least a 6cm. (The purple line is a super awesome way to track a woman's dilation during labor. It is a purple line that goes up the butt crack, the higher the line from the bottom of your bum, the further dilated you are! How cool right?!)
We check into the hospital at 5:00 and low and behold, I was 8 cm! Wahoo! I wrote up a birth plan that seemed to impress all the drs so much they wanted copies for future references for patients which I thought was nice. At 7:45am my water broke, I was 9cm and 90% effaced. At 8:00 I felt pressure and wanted to push, the dr soon discover not all of my membranes has ruptured which was causing part of my cervix to not dilate. 8:40 I felt increased pressure and wanted to push again. The dr said the sac was still intact and he wanted to wait for it to rupture and that if I pushed now, it could cause some serious damage to my cervix so I needed to wait.
Finally at about 9:20 the dr came in and decided to rupture the remaining sac to hopefully help me become completely dilated and effaced.
10:25, it was finally pushing time! Upon pushing, we quickly realized that Gibson was sunny side up. I pushed in all different positions for about an hour. The drs tried turning him with every push and nothing was working. He was stuck in my pelvis and my back labor was beyond horrible! At 11:35 they knew I wasn't going to be able to push him out on my own given the circumstances. They told me they were going to have to vacuum him and I was terrified. 11:45 Gibson finally made his debut into this world with the help of a vacuum. His shoulder also got stuck in the process so he has some bruising and his head has a small spot where the vacuum was placed but all in all for how hard the birth was on him, he looks fabulous and is no doubt a wonderful blessing! I can also proudly type this birth story and tell you I did the entire thing unmediated. All in all, it was a great success!

Hmmm very interesting!! Dang girl, you were only doing those things for 6 days and went into labor!? I started the EPO last week but after seeing some mixed evidence about it, I chickened out and stopped it . :-S Did your nurse friend tell you EPO was okay? my midwife seriously told me to stick 4 in vaginally and I havent yet because I am second guessing it. I have been drinking the tea, going on nightly walks, bouncing on the ball. Maybe I need to DTD!!

She did tell me it was ok. I felt hesitant about it myself after seeing a thread with mixed opinions and reviews. My OB also suggested EPO so I figured why not? I guess I'm just an early bird because I had my daughter at 38 weeks exactly.
