February 2014 Moms

Hey y'all, are hoppers accepted?

Hello everyone! I'm hopping on over from march 2014 board (due march 5) but bc of medical issues (svt, chronic hypertension, familial mediterranean fever, chronic kidney issues...yeah I'm a mess. Lol) my doc says we are really just working toward getting me to 35 weeks without kidney failure or stroke. (I have to laugh or I'll cry) soooo will you take me in? :)

I'm 9 weeks today, i am weekly at the ob, twice/trimester at mfh, and monthly ultrasounds. (that part is exciting.) I have 3 girls, ages 13, 9, and 5. They are amazing small people, (except my 12 year old...she's 2 inches taller than me...so she's just an amazing person!) and I'm excited/nervous/grateful to be doing it all again.

I work 2 jobs and attend school 3/4 time, but I'm cutting it down to one job and school during the pregnancy, and possibly thereafter. Hubby works 2 jobs also, main in firefighter. Yes...marine/firefighter...I married all that sexiness. :) I'm happy to be here If you all will have me. :)

Its a genetic mutation, and mine is unconfirmed, but I have a family history of it and meet all of the criteria. (although I also pass all of the tests for lupus....but my dr seems to think fmf is more likely, so I claim it.)
  • Very interesting because I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and then another doctor said I could have Lupus. I didn't have any further testing but, two of my Aunts do have Lupus. I just read it's common in Jewish people too. I've had days where I've hurt so bad and can't move much. I've learned to live with it but, ouch!
  • I've been told that it is commonly mistaken for lupus, and a whole lot less common! Maybe mention it to your dr? One big difference I've found is that my bloodwork is normal when I'm not flared. My double stranded antibody test is positive while flared, normal while not. I don't think thats the case with lupus....
  • And I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and a couple of other auto immune diseases before a MED STUDENT saw me and suggested fmf. 7 doctors later.... Lol

  • Well maybe this is what it is. You know that rash on the legs? I had that at 18. Didn't know what it was. Have not had it since luckily. I'm 35 now. My one sister has hurt on and off for awhile now too. I spike temps often. It's nothing for me to have a low grade temp on any given day. So, I take it you are of Mediterranean decent too? It's crazy what's out there that a person can have.
  • All of my grandparents are from somewhere else....my paternal grandfather is portuguese, my paternal grandmother is adopted, but of African/Italian decent. Maternal grandmother also adopted, but from Spain. Maternal grandfather is German/Irish (only one not of Mediterranean descent.) crazy family history makes diagnosing these things difficult, I think.

I don't know that you're making a super great impression in here: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12012620/opening-up-a-can-of-worms-but-here-it-goes/p3

    Welcome, I guess.
    Lol thanks I guess.
  • Yes, it does. I am also other stuff so I'd never think to ask about this fever. I wonder if certain foods trigger it? Hmmmm now I am going to go do some research. I'm tired of hurting! I havnt even taken a Tylenol with this baby because I'm so afraid. I lost my last son at 17 weeks gestation so I'm being super cautious.
  • You may be too much of an awesome mom for us. And since you're so busy, it'd be hard to keep up with two different birth month boards. Maybe there are other moms who do it all on March, and you could better relate to them.

Oh, thank you! And don't worry about my time, I'll manage. I can do it all, remember? :)

That's super scary, I hope this pregnancy is as uneventful as possible for you. For me, I haven't found that foods trigger the fevers, but I eat tons of antiinflammatory foods to help keep them at bay. I hate drugs so I try to treat as much with food/exercise as possible. Spinach and kale smoothies for breakfast 5-6x/week help...
  • I was doing the, smoothie thing for awhile but, stopped. I should start back up. Yes, losing him was a nightmare. I gave birth to him and held him in my arm. He was so tiny. I was offered a D and C but decided to give birth to him due to religious reasons. Wound up with a uterine infection a week later. Had to be put in the hospital have a d n c and stay for six days. So i am being super brave trying again but, I am putting my faith in God that everything will be fine this time around.
  • That is so heartbreaking. I'm a firm believer in the power of positive thoughts, so continue to stay brave and positive. *hugs*
  • I find it interesting that you ask to be accepted AFTER telling everyone that you're a better mother than them. clearly that wasn't well thought out.
