DD has FINALLY started enjoying finger painting and understanding what to do. I was able to get her set up in her high chair with paper and paint glops on it and while she entertained herself I was able to clean!
DD1 has started sleeping with two pillows (a pillowpet and a regular pillow). It makes me laugh because she uses one for a body pillow, just like I do.
Her reading is blowing me away. She is SO good at it. Her memory strength really comes into play and she rips through fairly complex words because of it. Last night I was brushing her hair and she was whispering to herself -- turns out she was reading the cover story titles off a magazine I had lying nearby.
She told me last night that at YMCA camp, one of the boys taught her some karate kicks, which tickled me. She is very interested in karate (and convinced that she knows how to do it without having taken a single lesson, lol). I will count that as a successful social interaction!
DD can now count to 8 in sequence and by herself. She surprised me with this when we were playing "hide and seek." She really likes counting and listened to a new song of an old toy phone so is now working on 10. Poor # 9 always gets the shaft
First sentences (very unclear, but fine with me). Big girl bed transition is going great. 10 second unassisted back float in swim. It's been a good week!
Grocery shopping wasn't a disaster today. DD willingly held my hand for the most part through the store, and transitioned fairly well from the fish and vacuums. She responded to my "motivation" to get in the cart by accepting a toy Elmo to play with for the last leg, and kept me from having to try to hang on to her while paying at the checkout. She also told the Elmo toy bye bye when I handed it over to the cashier to put back. Overall it was a good trip.
DS had a blast at a local amusement park. He's exactly 42" (the limit on several rides). He rode everything they'd let him. He took turns picking rides with his cousin and generally had a blast. When he was feeling overwhelmed he found appropriate ways to self regulate like asking for a hug or pressing his chin into a table. He was fine the whole time about 10:30am-7:30pm
Just when I call to set up a neuropsych to rule out ASD today, Nate pointed to the neighbor's dog.......
He also has about 6 'friends' that share the crib with him. Tonight I gave him a small baby bottle and said, "I think baby is hungry" He fed her the bottle and then proceeded to feed all the other friends. He also tried to make the sucking sound I was doing while the friends were eating.
