My cat has a UTI and it seems like its never going away. For anyone that has cats, you know how frustrating UTIs can be. She pees everywhere and it's bloody, and when we took her to the vet all he did was give us some meds for $200 that DIDN'T work, and caused her to puke everywhere as well. We've tried everything with her and idk what to do now!
We can't keep taking her to a vet for $200 and we also can't be in a house with cat piss everywhere (we do clean it up but you know what I mean). I just keep thinking that our baby is going to be crawling on these floors and that's gross!
*sigh* Anyone have any advice? TIA
Re: Cat problems TMI?
Very sorry, cats are tricky to handle & outsmart sometimes, & yeah, the bills can be killer. Our male cat cost us over $700 before we had to put him down, & our female has cost us just about the same, but if she keeps eating the special food, she will probably make it. On the other hand, if your cat is really in pain, & the vet just can't help, then for her own pain relief, it might be better to put her down, although that's always so very hard to do, even when it's so they won't hurt anymore. GL. Wish I could help.
I would go to another vet. Even the vet college if you have one near. They are generally cheaper and I find students more thorough actually.
We have to feed ours a Science Diet we have to buy from the vet, but they eat less of that than the cheap stuff, so when we buy a bag of it, yeah, it's like $36 or something, & it's small, but, it lasts her several months usually, so...it's pricey maintenance, but it's either that or putting her down.
Changing the food is a good idea. Other things to try:
Invest in a black light and find all her pee spots. Use an enzymatic cleaner for animal pee to clean them till they're gone.
Until she's healthy, restrict her to a bathroom to save your floors.
Use cat attract litter. She may associate the litter box with the pain of urination and that can help the poor thing feel like trying again.
I know you can't afford constant meds, but you've only tried one round and you can't leave her like this. Give her three rounds of mess before you feel this is chronic. Poor thing is hurting now and needs help! I hope the new vet can fix her.
