Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Baby sign language

Have any of you used any of the baby sign language programs? If so, can you recommend your program? My LO is only 3 1/2 mos, but I am interested in learning the program before starting with him at the appropriate age.

 Many thanks!

I have been doing a few signs since DD was your LO's age (Mom, Dad, Hungry). She hasn't done them back yet, but she seems to enjoy watching me do them.

Thank you for pointing me to this website! Looks like I have some exploring to do during LO's nap time :-)

  • I get signing time videos from the library and watch those.

  • Thanks for posting that website! I have been wanting to teach my daughter some sign language. Guess I better start learning. :)

  • You can search Baby Einstein Sign Language on Youtube, it's a good video.

  • There are lots of great books, ipad apps for parents as well as videos online. My parents are Deaf, so I've been signing with baby since day one as I really want to make sure that knows how to communicate with her grandparents.  She definitely recognizes signs and will move her hands around when I'm talking with my mom but no real sign approximations yet.  Usually around 8-9 months they have the dexterity to truly start signing more regularly so just keep exposing your LO to the signs you want them learn :).  I know when I sign "milk" or "food", my greedy baby gets super excited!
