At the hospital

For fluids and zofran. Potentially for a few days but I'm hoping for a few hours.

I'm waiting to be admitted. People are grumpy.

I hate this.

  • Hope its only for a few hours!  Really, though the fluids helped so much.  Have you tried Phenergan yet?  Seriously, the zofran hasn't helped me much at all this time but the Phenergan is working wonders.  As long as I take it at 3 am... it knocks me back out till 7 am but then it actually seems to last all day.  Ask for that or diclegis while you are there.  Diclegis is the newly re-approved medicine specifically for morning sickness.  It's really the B6 + Unisom combo in Rx form.  Just had a LONG talk w/ my ob about it all yesterday b/c I'm preparing for the long haul in case this doesn't wear off after 1st tri!

  • It sucks that when you feel so bad, you have to go to a place that generally makes people feel worse before they can feel better...I hope they take you up to the Maternity Ward for your meds & fluids & you find some people in a better mood, who are willing to at least try & spoil a sick mommy.  (Isn't that the way it should be???)
  • Oh no, that stinks. I hope it helps though, I'm sorry you're so sick. FX it's only a few hours!

  • Three bags of fluid later and I'm home. Still feeling nauseous. How is that possible?

I'm supposed to stay quiet and call for treatment after six hours of bad sickness now. I guess my ketones were a bit scary. Oops. Luckily they came down quick and now I'm home and trying to figure out if I can stand to eat anything.

  • I'm glad You are home. Get some rest and also if you have zofran on hand keep taking it regularly until you feel more balanced. Also I highly recommend Powerades and lemonades ice cold. Ive done this and it helps to keep your ketones and electrolytes balanced. Also ive said this before but, drink prune juice daily while on zofran to keep things moving. I tend to drink mine in the evening when my tummy is more settled. Zofran is an awesome drug but dang it sure likes to slow things down.
  • I hate the hospital, it's always so hard to get out! FX you're home already and feeling better. Take care of yourself.

  • That's how I have been its miserable :( I've gotten fluids three times now 3-4 bags while I'm there and keytones in my urine too. Terrible time but nice to have someone to talk to about it.
