HAHA, thanks! let's think of a party theme that is NOT mommy porn. I totally thought that could work....I see now that I must've been drinking heavily when I thought that.
so, he is OBSESSED with the gigglebellies version of twinkle twinkle little star. That's a good one right? He loves monkeys and also dogs, but I'm afraid that either of those I'll run into the situation of the monkeys being different or the dogs being different when ordering/making decor and it won't match. Does that make sense? Also, I saw a really cute idea of a mustache bash....picture little kids running round with mustaches!
oh, we live right outside of Philly. I'm a HUGE hockey fan and my husband is a huge football fan....we were thinking of doing a Sunday party and making it either just football themed or sports in general themed and making it like a tailgate themed party....serving all tailgate food and games for the kids, etc. But we decided to hold that one for another year when he's a little older.

yea, I love it! I think we'll probably use that next year or for his 3rd birthday when he can appreciate it more.
I'm thinking either a pumpkin patch theme or a straight up halloween theme We love halloween and it would be fun to get the season kicked off right for their first year!
ooooh, good one! You could do a costume party! October 16th (read in your siggy) is close enough to Halloween for sure
I love the mustache bash idea. I've seen pacifiers with mustaches... I'm sure there are plenty of ideas on pinterest as usual.. haha. Also, the tailgate party sounds perfect for a toddler- super cute.
Don't feel bad @clrgrdfrk. We aren't doing a party. It is way too hard to keep up with the family drama, who is not talking to who, etc. So we are skipping that altogether. DH is taking a long weekend, and whichever day of the weekend is nicest out, we'll go for a hike with DD and the pooch, and have a picnic. There is a beautiful lake by us, so I figured that's where we would go.
@Kitter16 See I feel like dh and I would totally be ok doing a little thing, just us, on her actually bday, and my parents will do an immediate family dinner/party... My dad and sister's bday is on the 25th and dd's is the 23rd so there one big party for all of them will be that if anyone wants to get her something.
we just kinda call him our little monkey. so that's where the monkey idea came from....but then I was afraid about the monkeys not matching (I'm PSYCHO I know) so we decided on Curious George so it would be the same monkey...but then DH's cousin is doing that theme. So here we are.
We are in Eastern PA, we are doing a Sesame Street theme for DS. I found an amazing cake on wilton but I decided after I bought all the stuff it would just be easier to buy the cake. We aren't going to go crazy with sesame street, just a cake and a singing Elmo balloon.
We did a "our little pumpkin" theme for DD1s 1st bday which worked bc she's a November baby. It was really easy to come up with all kinds if cute ideas related to pumpkins!
I have no other creative thoughts right now, but wanted to ask where outside of Philly You live (greysmama)? DH grew up there and we lived in Del Co until recently. There's all kinds if good , bad, and ugly there (IMO) but overall I loved living there.

where outside Philly are you from? I live in western PA now but grew up in lower bucks county and still spend lots of time back there since it's where all my family and my ILs are.
We are in New Castle County (Northern Wilmington Area)!! And to add to the party conversation, we are doing a Dr. Seuss theme! Including Hop on Pop Corn and There's a Wocket in my Pita Pocket! Yum!
Dr. Seuss is SUCH a cute idea! I've been trying to get him into the books...no dice. that sounds awesome!
Thanks! Saywer loves the books. Especially when we are done reading them he likes closing them and then smacking the cover. He also giggles when we turn the pages and the touch his nose!
we haven't really found books he enjoys more than any others....and I've been reading to him at bedtime since he was only a few weeks old. Lately he just tries to get away and crawls all around the room while I read.
Small world, we lived in Drexel Hill (around Garrett Road next to Springfield), until a couple years ago. We moved elsewhere in PA to be closer to my family, but DH is from Media.

oh, so small!!! I grew up in Drexel Hill near Drexeline shopping center and also in Springfield (parents were divorced, had joint custody). That's super closs to us!
We're also doing a pumpkin patch/apple orchard theme. DH has a little John Deere tractor, so we're going to borrow a trailer and do "hay rides" around the back yard for the kids.
I'm from Montgomery County, my parents live in Bucks Co. now! We go to visit the end of August and I CAN'T WAIT TO GO HOME I live in bumblefuck Georgia now since H is military.
Re: Gray's 1st Bday party idea thread
Snips and snails and puppy dog tails theme- This is what I would do if I had a boy, here is an example I found. Sorry, I have no idea how to make it clicky.

ETA: I guess it became clicky on its own.

I feel like I am such a lame mommy... I have no ideas or any plans on if/when we are doing a party.

I think Twinkle Twinkle Little Star might win
we're leaning more to not having one but if so it will be at our house in the backyard and Itsy Bitsy Spider my son's fav book and 2 hour party!
We live in Northern Virginia in a 3 level TH
