Face scratches..

Like normal babies my LO scratches herself from time to time and they normally go away with no problem.
We cut her nails the other night and magically she awakes with a pretty nasty scratch to where she broke skin and it scabbed and got red around it so i put some neosporin. Of course after i put the neosporin on she wipes it away taking the scab away with it.

I know im probably overreacting but im nervous it will leave a scar.

Any suggestions , experiences?

  • My LO has done this numerous times but I've done nothing about it. But I also have a little boy and chicks dig scars! Lol

Have you considered putting cotton mittens on while she sleeps? When I have to drive alone with V I put them on so if she gets pissy she can't scratch her face.
LO just learned how to self sooth at night , so I dont want to confuse her by putting on mittens .. but i did think about it .. Im trying hard to keep up with her nails , but Im sure it wont be the first time!

  • My daughter scratched herself enough to draw a vit of blood as well. It scabbed over and left no scar. I actually had nothing to put on it to disinfect it but it worked out.
  • Baby skin is so quick to heal and nail scratches are so minor that I wouldn't worry about a scar. If you haven't been filing her nails after trimming them, try that to remove the rough edges.
