I know as babies get older they get better and quicker at eating but I am curious how long does it take them to finish feeding? how often do they eat? how many times a day/night.
DD will be 5 months old on August 3rd. She eats for about 15-18 minutes (both breasts combined) but sometimes she's done after 10-12 minutes. She eats every 2.5-3 hours during the day and usually 2 mid-night feedings. She was gaining weight really good up until a month ago but I am afraid she's not gaining weight as good right now. We have a balance at home and I weigh her weekly.
A friend who has a baby 2 weeks younger than DD was over yesterday and her daughter eats for half an hour every 1.5 hours.
Re: How long does your baby feed if EBF?
This is the same way she has been since day 1
I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!
My 4 month old had been feeding very 2hrs (day and night) one breast 4-6min. In early weeks it was 8-10 min she cut that in half around 10weeks of age. She would refuse to even consider a second breast.
About 4 days ago she switched to feeding every 3hrs during day and every 4hr over night and now takes both breasts in a total of 8-10min. It was a sudden magical switch, I started to think she'd never last more than 2hrs!!

DD just turned 3 months old. She nurses every 3 hours or so. I am only able to nurse on one side, and she eats for about 15 minutes per feeding. She is STTN -- from about 10pm-6:30am. She is gaining well (80th percentile for weight and 99th percentile for height) and is a generally happy baby, although now we're dealing with early teething (but that's a whole other thread/topic!).
