Jacob fell in the shower (he is OK)

Jacob fell in the shower tonight - and I wanted to tear my heart out!

While I was on the toilet (basement), and undressing him while I was peeing, he ran out the door when I wiped, flushed and washed. I heard him on top of the small stairs (he normally runs up to the 1.st floor to say good night, so I did not reacto this.). I then heard laughter from the laundryroom/2. bathroom and when I peeked in he was holding the switch to the water and turned it on when I walked in.

I then entered the room and he started running (because he knows he is not to shower alone, or to turn on water without supervision). and when he got close to the washingmachine he slips on the slippery tiles and bumps his head on the hard floor.

There was 2-3 secs of silence and schock - and then a LOUD scream. (which lasted about 5 mins)

I looked at the back of his head and saw abrasion the size of a flat ping-pong ball. Luckily there was no deep cut or anything, just a big scratch.

I put him to bed about 45 mins after this (it was allready over an hour after bedtime), and woke him up after 3 hours. He was clear and said "what?" and looked sceptical at me.

This whole time I just felt helpless - I could not do anything. It just sucked. (I am hoping that he gets a bump, and remeber that he cannot run in the shower OR turn on water without supervision).

  • Oh, that sucks! Glad he's ok and hopefully you're right and he'll learn from his lesson!

Oh no, so sorry!!  C fell last week over a ball and hit his head on the shelf.  He had a giant swelling on the back of his head that was quickly turning blue so we took him to the hospital.  (It was in the evening on a Saturday so no pedi was open.)  They watched him for a few hours and gave us instructions to wake him a few times during the night, ask him questions, make sure he could walk to get some water or to the bathroom, etc.  You might check with your pedi in the morning to see if they want to check him out.  Hugs mama, it will be okay!

Oh that must have been scary. I'm glad he's okay! It's so hard when our kids have no real concept of risk.
