Babies: 9 - 12 Months

5 days and counting,,,,stiill no power

I live in NH where we had an ice storm Thurs. night.  We have been without power since then and have been staying with my MIL b/c she has gas heat and a gas stove.

So now you ask, how is she on the internet then?  Luckily, my MIL bought a generator on Sunday and she still (strangely) has internet access and cable!  So we are able to keep warm and eat, but our house (6 miles away) still has no power either. I am worried that when the power does come back we will have problems with our house.  We've been checking on it and no lines seem to have frozen at this point (thank goodness!).  I suppose I am only posting b/c I am getting really irritated with all this business. Almost everyone else I know has their power back now....All I want for Christmas this year is to back in our house with power and no major issues to deal with!!

  • That sucks.  I'd be most worried about pipes freezing.
  • Loading the player...
  • yeah that's why we've been to the house everyday....well that and I have to keep going back for clothes, I didn't bring much b/c I kept hoping the power would come back...

  • Good Luck!  I am in Mass and two towns away from it all.  Luckily we didn't get hit, but I have much family in NH and the NH border that are still out as well.  They are staying in hotels!
  • Ugh.  Sorry to hear it and hope it gets fixed soon!
  • That blows! I came home to Andover and 1.5 days w/o power and a wet basement.

    Good times.

  • Good luck! I hope it's back on soon! I'm moving to Connecticut at the end of the month and I'm?terrified?about this. What do people do who have electric heat and do not have family to stay with and can't afford a hotel? (I'm going to be one of those people!!). I wonder if there is a "cold?weather?for dummies" book?

    ?M?

  • We just got our power back yesterday afternoon. We were able to stay at my parents', who only lost power for a couple hours on Friday morning. It really does stink to feel like you're the only people in your area without power. It also felt really weird to be finally be home last night.

If you turn on your faucet so that water trickles out, it will help to keep the pipes from freezing. Hope you get power soon!

  • We were the only house in the entire family that kept power.  MIL (in Exeter) still does not have power as of yesterday.  The houses across the street from her do and the houses three down do.  I cannot even imagine.  I hope they get it back on soon.
