What'd you do when your DH/SO was giving SA??

So I'm not sure what to do..... my docs office has requested that my DH provide a SA. Due to the difficulty scheduling with that office we are unable to obtain the sample at home (which would've been better) and will have to collect the sample at the office. So here's my question, what did you all do when your DH/SO was collecting the SA sample? Did you let them go to the office by themselves or did you waiting in the waiting room? I would like to go with him to the office but wait in the waiting room if he wants or whatever. Wasn't sure what was considered normal for this. He's gone with me to my appt's I want to be there for his as this is a joint venture. Help!

The one time he couldn't collect at home, he made me "help him out" in the parking lot. Sounds like fun huh?? Good luck!

All but one of DH's samples were collected at home. He did the collection by himself, but I got the honor of carrying the cup of jizz. With the one sample he did at the office, he went back to the room by himself and I sat in the waiting room. He thinks it's too awkward for me to be in the room with him while he's doing his thing.

Hmm. With my luck we would get caught in the parking lot haha. I guess i could send him some naughty pics? Is it just like a normal docs office or are there things for them to look at? I have no idea what to expect.

We always had to have him produce the sample at the clinic, but it was always before an IUI, so I would usually wait in the waiting room while he took care of business and then we would leave for a couple hours and get coffee and I would come back for the IUI. There's porn in the rooms, but DH said he would never touch it. I guess my deep dark secret is that he has a few things on his phone to help him out. $:\$ ">

My DH has total anxiety when it comes to the cup. We attempted to do the test three times. We live close to the RE office so we can collect at home. The first time only a tiny drop came out like the size from eye drops, I called the RE and the nurse said to cancel the test because they need more. The second time a bit more came out. When we got to the lab they said oh we need more. It was terrible. The RE asked us to do it again to make sure that the very low volume (0.5 mL) was not because of cup anxiety. The third time we had the same issue as the first time and test was cancelled. DH would not allow me to help with those collections, but when we have done IUI I have been helping any way I can. RE's nurse said I could help any was as long as it got in the cup!!!

My DH absolutely refuses to even try at the hospital - he gets way too freaked out. We also live >1 hr from the clinic so we absolutely can't collect at home. We tried one horrible experiment with him in the backseat and a laptop while I drove (long, quiet highway) but that was a write-off. The only thing we found that worked is booking a hotel near the clinic. It sucks to pay an extra $150 every time for a room, but he is much more relaxed, produces a sample in no-time and we get a little night away (albeit without sex). Best of luck to you!

My husband goes by himself. We live too far away to do it at home, but he said he preferred just doing it there anyway. He said it would be awkward if I was there waiting for him though. Although, he realizes I'll be there when he does it for an IUI, but that's different.

DH prefers the office instead of home - I sat in waiting room reading a book and silently praying. It took about 45 mins afterward for the sperm washing so we just had to wait there. There's a starbucks downstairs from the office so DH went and got coffee and croissant.

DH also prefers the office so he is in the mindset of just getting it done. I am normally at work when he has his appointments. In the evening, we typically get a good laugh out of his descriptions of their "inspirational" material.

All three were done at the clinic. I waited for him in the waiting room the 1st time, and the other two times were on a Sunday and I was at church. He met me after his sample, and then we had to drive back there for the IUI. not sure how things will work with IVF. He mentioned that there are movies there.

THIS. I thought my DH was the only one who prefers to produce in the office. He says he feels weird doing it at home. If he wants action we BD, hes not into the do it yourself thing so its hard for him. He did the SA and 6IUI samples in the office. He takes about 20 minutes. I went with him all times except once bc I was surging and I had to have the IUI after work so DH went a little bit earlier. Every time hes in there I'm like PLEASE do it. Good luck.

I was in the waiting room, he said they had a computer filled with porn, and it took him a couple of minutes to find one he wanted. But crazy as it sounds he doesn't like me to watch him "get worked up" ever, like it embarrass him.

First timetable husband was horrified and refused to let me go with him. Next time he asked me to come to appointment and come in the room to help get him excited. Find what works for you two and make sure you laugh at yourselves because any way you slice it, it's super awkward. Hopefully someday him having to go through giving a sample will make him appreciate what you have to do to when you get a pap every year or give birth someday :-). Good luck !
