Decreased supply in one breast only

Lately I have had a signficant decrease in my supply from ONE breast only.  Has this happened to anyone else before?  Since my other breast doesn't seem to be affected I thought it might have something to do with my pump so I have tried switching the hooks up, etc but that doesn't seem to help matters.  I used to be able to get 5-6 ounces from each breast at my first pump of the day but now I am only getting about half of that from my left breast.  I continue to take my Fenugreek, drink plenty of water, etc.  Any ideas?

Re: Decreased supply in one breast only

  • My left breast has always been lazy compared to my right breast.  Rightie brings in double what leftie does each time I pump.

  • How old is LO? Are you pumping enough to feed LO while away? I've never had a drastic change in one, but always had a major difference between the two.

  • LO is 7 1/2 months and I pump enough to feed him most days and have about a 2 month supply in the freezer at home for supplementing.  My right has always produced more but not by this much!
  • My left is always less productive than the right, i think it is because LO favored the right for the first few days before we switched to EP'ing. I just leave the pump hooked up to the less productive side 1-2 minutes longer than the other to signal my body to up the production for that one.
