acupuncture and MFI

Just came from my first acupuncture encounter. Though, it was one of my best friends receiving the treatment, (she let me sit in). The acupuncturist asked me if I'd done any research regarding acupuncture and MFI. I have not, but will be starting so today, I had just never thought about it.

Anyone else out there looked in to this yet?

I have read about it. My husband is willing to do just about anything for us to get pregnant, but I think I'd have a hard time convincing him to do acupuncture. I'm doing it and he thinks it's interesting, but I'd bet he'd have a different opinion doing it himself!

I think it depends if you're willing to wait 90 days to find out if it's working. DH didn't have any luck with Clomid after 7 months, so I just wanted to move on. My RE didn't recommend acupuncture for DH and he's a big believer in it. GL

Good to know the RE didn't recommend it. And, not really wanting to wait 90 days to find out. Hoping to cycle in either August or September and get on with the show! We'll have to do ICSI anyway, so...

I still hold out every month that we'll get pregnant naturally, which to a lot of people is nuts, it's been 4 years. So, I'm hopeful and believe things CAN happen, but if our radar is now set on moving forward and doing IVF w ICSI, I'm good with just me doing acupuncture.

I had the same questions as you about acupuncture for DH. I was worried that we could have done more for DH prior to IVF. On the day of retrieval he provided his best SA ever, which made me really second guess IVF. Then we got our final fert report. On day 3 we had 15 perfect looking embies with no fragmentation. Then after day 3 when the sperm kicks in, we lost 11 embies/blasts. DH wasn't a candidate for DNA sperm fragmentation testing, but if we needed to stim again my RE was going to test for it. If positive, we would proceeded w/ PICSI instead of just ICSI and IMSI. Sometimes with IF you just have to follow you instincts. GL w/ your upcoming cycle.

I know the feeling. I have one more cycle before I start BCP for IVF. I just looked up when my likely ovulation days would be. It seems silly...but I still kind of hope that by some miracle DH will ejaculate enough sperm that we get pregnant this cycle. I know it would be next to a miracle..but I still hope.

Also, I am starting acupuncture for me. I don't think I could drag DH into it, even though our fertility issues are primarily MFI. I hope it will help me relax a little.

DH went in for one treatment. Since we are going to IVF anyway, we are saving the money for drugs! LOL

I started it to help with my cycles (before we knew we were dealing with MFI as well) and it was great! When DH went to her, she was able to provide him with supplements to [try to] help, but she didn't recommend acupuncture for him. She believes that acupuncture doesn't really have an affect on sperm, and she's a fertility "expert" with TCM, so we didn't try it for DH. It really did help with *my* cycles though, so I was quite happy with that!

DH did acupuncture for three months and while it brought up his numbers somewhat it wasn't enough make a difference. He didn't really see someone who specialized in infertility though.

I've been doing acupuncture for months, to try to prepare my body. Today my acupuncturist said that he wishes my DH would come in so we could try to avoid IVF. I definitely believe in acupuncture and it's power, but I have a hard time believing that it could bring H's numbers up as dramatically as they need to come up. I think biologically for my H it's not really possible.

I notice more normal cycles when I go!

So, who knows! It could be worth a shot!
