Thirsties Vs. Kissaluvs

Hi ladies! I'm new to the CD board so please forgive me if this has already been asked recently as I tried to do a search. I'm thinking about switching to fitted CDs. My LO is a heavy wetter with a sensitive bottom and she doesn't like to be "wet". I think I've narrowed my search to Thirsties or Kissas Fitted. Any one have experience with both or either?

Our LO isn't here yet, so I can't give any firsthand knowledge on wicking, but our stash is primarily made up of Thirsties and Kissaluvs fitteds. The Thirsties is a much thicker, bulkier diaper and it has a tunnel design that allows you to stuff it with boosters. When we tested our diapers using just water, the Thirsties diaper was more absorbent than Kissaluvs.

We have both. Thirsties are definitely more absorbent, but as far as keeping LOs bottom dry, I'm not too impressed with either.

If your LO doesn't like feeling wet, fitteds aren't really your best bet unless you're planning to use a microfleece liner. Fitteds are generally made of natural fibers, so they are going to feel wet just like a prefold.

To address your specific question, though, I've used Kissas cotton fitteds and did not find them very absorbent.

For stay-dry diapers, most people use pockets or AIOs.

I think the Thirsties are synthetic, if I recall correctly.

Because of wetness sensitivity during the early months, we were changing so frequently when we were using both Thirsties and Kissaluvs that it didn't really matter which was more absorbant. I changed when he was wet, which was often before the diaper got saturated. It was the only way to keep his rashes under control.

Rainshine Designs makes a stay dry fitted overnight diaper. It is expensive, but you only need a few of them for overnight use. If LO doesn't like to be wet, I would try a stay dry pocket during the day.

My little guy doesn't like to be wet but does pretty well with bamboo velour inners. They aren't really stay dry, but I don't think they feel as wet as cotton or bamboo fleece. If you're really committed to using fitteds, maybe try that, or try adding a fleece liner.
