Do babies dream?

Tonight after I layed my daughter down to bed I heard her giggling and laughing out loud a few hours later, naturally I thought she had woken up and waited to see if she'd fuss, after a few minutes of giggling and laughing she started to babble so I figured I should try to put her down or she'd be really unhappy later. She was passed out cold just giggling and laughing every now and then. Do you think babies dream about certain events like something they did in the past few recent days or in memories and put them together in different ways maybe? I was just really interested to hear thoughts. At this point with her being 1 and remembering things it's a possibility.

Re: Do babies dream?

  • Yep, I think so. My LO gas said "hi" and "mama" in her sleep, so I think she must.

  • Well I know they have night terrors, so I would imagine they have good dreams too!  My friend's son is ridiculously advanced verbally, and he tells her about dreams he has with spiders.  I asked my son today if he had a good nap and he told me "horsies running" so I'm thinking he probably dreamt about horses.

  • Ive heard my baby yelp and giggle in his sleep. I always want to know what is making him laugh or what he is afraid of.
