Babies: 3 - 6 Months

rolling over

DD has developmental delays and low muscle tone so she was really delayed in these things and I guess that makes me more paranoid about DS's milestones. He turned 3 months today.
Just curious, when did your LO first start rolling and how much tummy time were you doing?

Re: rolling over

  • Just yesterday she started rolling tummy to back. She did it twice more today (both directions!). We didn't do any tummy time really until 2.5 weeks ago because she hated it so much. Then we started on a nursing pillow everyday for about 5-10 mins for 2 weeks and two days after we stopped using the pillow she rolled.

She turned 4 months last Saturday.

  • My LO will be 4 months tomorrow and she has yet to fully turn over. She has yet to figure out what to do with the arm underneath. Honestly I haven't been doing much tummy time with her until more recently because whenever I would try it, she would cry. Within the last few days, she's been tolerating it more, so we're really just starting to practice.

  • DD did just after 4 months. We tried to do a little tummy time each day but honestly we weren't that great about it. She rolled front to back first, but only for one day, then back to front a couplettimes, and then a week or two later she started doing both consistently.

  • DD3 rolled from back to tummy once last week, but I think it was on accident. Shes been trying but hasn't done it since. She will be 4 mos on Saturday. We don't do much tummy time (she's finally started to tolerate it), so she's not even close that direction.

We did tummy time a couple times a day for as long as she would stay happy usually 5-10 minutes at a time.. She rolled front to back at just over 3 months... back to tummy at 4 1/2 months.

I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!

  • Grayson rolled over right around 3.5 months. We had been doing some tummy time and his head control was good, but rolling took a little while. He's rolled tummy to back and can almost get over back to belly, but can't get over that arm! Haha He turned 4 months last Sunday.

  • Both my kids rolled tummy to back at 6 weeks, but it took DS1 about 2 weeks after that to actually do it semi-frequently and it took DS2 till 3 months to do it semi-frequently. He just rolled from back to belly a couple times in the past week but, again, not regular yet. Both of my kids were pretty good with tummy time, thankfully, so we just do it as often as possible and ask DCP that they do it frequently, too.
  • honestly, LO rolled a few times tummy to back around 10 weeks and hasn't seemed interested in doing it since.  Around 4 months she rolled back to tummy a couple times and by 4.5 months she was doing it regularly. Now as soon as she's on her back she rolls to her tummy, but get's sort of stuck. She doesn't seem interested in rolling but wants to move LOL!

  • DS rolled tummy to back around 3 weeks and then started to hate tummy time. So now he doesn't seem to have much interest in it now. His arms just kinda go out like he's going to flap them and fly away. He can get to his side sometimes from his back. But he's starting to sit. So I guess he's just going to skip the rolling right now.
  • DD#2 has been rolling tummy to back for awhile - she started early.  She has yet to go back to tummy but was really really close last night - she is 5 months old.  My ticker is refusing to change.

DD#1 was late - she didn't roll tummy to back until almost 5 months and the back to tummy was months after that.

  • DS turned 3 months about a week and a half ago and heis nowhere CLOSE to rolling. We do several sessions of tummy time every day, but he seems way more focused on trying to crawl than on trying to roll. Your baby is fine, don't worry!
